Chapter 1070: Have I Fallen For Him?
Lu Lian stepped inside the suit and called, "Mr. Ming."
There was still no reply, so she went further inside in the stylish living room of the suite and looked around to search for the man.
No one was there, but she noticed the empty alcohol bottle on the center table and broken glass pieces around the table and the floor.
"Mr. Ming, are you here?" she called again, looking at other doors there.
There was no reply, so Lu Lian thought to keep the file on there and leave. There was a table next to the wall carrying a vase. She put the file on it and turned to leave, but she was pulled back suddenly as someone held her arm.
It startled her, and the next moment Ming Rusheng was standing in front of her.
"You scared me," she spurted out, her heart beating faster and breath shallow.
The man in front of her didn't seem to hear what she said and hugged her tightly as if his life depended on her.
"I knew you would come," Ming Rusheng mumbled while holding her tightly.
"You are suffocating me," she tried to speak, trying to breathe.
Ming Rusheng loosened his grip and rested his forehead on her shoulder, still holding her but leaving a little space between them.
"I knew you would come," he mumbled again.
Lu Lian smelled the alcohol the moment he hugged her and knew he was drunk.
"I came here to give you a file," she informed, but again, he didn't react as if he was in another world. He stood, taking her support, and she had to handle this heavy body.
"Mr. Ming," she shook his arm to move him away, but there was no use.
"Stay like this," he said, burying his face in her nape and trying to hold her tightly.
This time she stopped him by holding his arm and said, "You are heavy. Just sit somewhere first."
"I don't want to," came the drunk and hoarse voice.
Lu Lian peaked above his shoulder and looked at the sofa where she planned to drag him, or she didn't know till how long he would keep her like this.
Lu Lian pushed him back slowly as she took steps with him. He was drunk, so she was sure he would obey. But he held her and stopped as he moved his head back to look at her.
His drunk red eyes stared into her puzzled and scared ones.
"You never listen to me, huh? Why? Can't I even hug you?" he asked. He looked hurt, and she didn't know why.
Seeing him like this hurt her too. "What happened?" she asked, not expecting to get a sane reply from a drunk man.
"You..."
Lu Lian didn't get what he meant, or rather she didn't wish to know it.
"You are drunk...you should..."
"I'm not drunk," he interrupted her.
Ming Rusheng looked like someone who needs to be pampered, and Lu Lian did so.
She smiled lightly and spoke, "You are not drunk at all, but can we sit somewhere? I'm tired like this."
He nodded slightly like an obedient kid and walked along with her towards the sofa.
Lu Lian made him sit on the sofa while leaning back. Just as she moved to arrange the pillow for him, he held her hand, "Don't go."
She caressed his hand that held her wrist, "I'm not going anywhere."
Ming Rusheng let her go and closed his eyes as he was almost sleepy.
Lu Lian arranged the pillow at one side of the sofa and pushed him a little so he could lay down. She moved his legs on the sofa, making him sleep straight.
Exhaling out, she looked for the water as she was tired, "This man sure is so heavy," she mumbled.
Having water, she wished to leave but then saw Ming Rusheng mumbling something as he looked restless even in his sleep.
She went closer and heard him, "Don't leave....stay with me...."
His hand slipped and hung down, she held it and put it on his chest, but in return, he grabbed her hand and mumbled again, "Don't go."
She didn't know what to think about it. She observed him and noticed he wore the same clothes from the office, the same shirt, and pants. His jacket and tie lay in one chair.
'Seems like he has been drinking since he returned,' she concluded and kneeled next to him as he held her hand not to let it go.
Lu Lian observed his face. His messy hair, sleepy face, and he looked unaware of his condition and what was going around. She wondered, "Can he even feel if I'm here, or he must think it's a dream."
She continued to stare at him. How much she tried, something was there that always pulled her towards this man, and she could never hate him whatever he did.
Letting him hold her hand as he looked calm after this, Lu Lian caressed his forehead to ease the frown lines that disappeared in a moment. Continuing to stare at him, she couldn't stop moving forward.
Creasing his cheeks, she leaned down and pecked on his lips as she stayed like that for a moment. She didn't know what's gotten into her but couldn't stop herself from doing it.
She parted away and thought, "Have I fallen for this man?"
The realization scared her, and she stood up immediately. "I should not," she mumbled and ran towards the door to leave the suite.
She left as if it would be wrong if she stayed there and entered the elevator. The manager greeted her when she reached the reception.
"Ms. Lu, did you meet Mr. Ming?"
"She got back to her senses. "Mr. Ming was sleeping. I kept the file on his table," she informed.
The manager nodded, and she talked again, "Can you do me a favor?"
"Yes."
"Don't tell Mr. Ming I went to his suite."
It puzzled the manager, and she spoke again, "Well, it's nothing serious, but it wouldn't look good if he thinks a woman sneaked into his room when he was sleeping. He might scold you for letting me in."
"Right," the manager agreed as he knew his boss never allowed a woman around him, and letting one enter in his suite was out of the question.
"Thank you." Lu Lian left, feeling confused about her feelings for Ming Rusheng.
She went home late and, as usual, the family members enquired if her meeting with Wen Zac went well.
She said yes to everything, being in a hurry to return to her room.
Lying in her bed, she couldn't help but think about Ming Rusheng and what she did. A while ago, she was ready to meet other men and then marry if her family asked her to, but now she was confused.
Wen Zac returned home where his father looked tensed, and a sister looked sat quietly on the sofa.
"I told you to avoid getting into the news," Mr. Wen talked to his daughter.
She spoke hesitantly, "It was just a dinner, and I didn't know...."
Mr. Wen sighed, "You kids don't understand the weight of these things."
"Father, calm down," Wen Zac interrupted his father.
Seeing her brother, Liwei felt relieved. It was so rare if her father scolded her for anything, but she understood this time it was serious.
"How can I be calm?" Mr. Wen mumbled.
His wife spoke, "They are dating, so it's normal to go out for dinner."
"You are taking her side," Mr. Wen glared at his wife.
"Father, just talk to uncle Lu and decide what to do," Wen Zac suggested.
"He invited us to his home tomorrow," Mr. Wen informed and then looked at his daughter, "You would stay at home and don't think about going out for few days."
Liwei nodded, and Mr. Wen left to go to his room as his wife followed him.
Liwei looked at her brother, "What will happen tomorrow?"
Wen Zac leaned back on the sofa lazily and replied, "I'm not sure about you, but I might end up being married man soon."
"You don't want to?" she asked.
Wen Zac didn't reply, so she said again, "Is it because of me?" she looked guilty.
Wen Zac patted her head, "Don't think much. Go and sleep."
Lu Lijun was in his room after creating one more hot news for the day. He stood in his room's gallery and didn't look guilty at all. He had something to achieve, and he was ready to do anything for it.
Going inside the room, he looked at the tiny calendar kept on the table and counted the days. Jiang Yuyan was supposed to return in a week, and he waited for the week to end soon. When she would return, he would have something ready for her.
Noah and Jake saw the news too.
"I thought he would stop as President Lu is not here," said Jake.
"She is not here; that's why he is doing it," Noah informed.
Jake sighed, "This guy."
"But President Lu doesn't seem to care about it, or till now, everything would have been taken care of and buried somewhere."
Jake looked at him surprisingly, and Noah added, "Our guy must have done something that President Lu stopped meddling and even left for a business trip. But she doesn't know it will only provoke him."
"Our friend is one of a kind who is impossible to handle. More than him, now I worry for President Lu," Jake said, and Noah agreed to it.
