Chapter 958: Secondary System's True Identity
"Second time...?" Zaira's voice full of confusion resounded before her tone turned solemn, "Who the heck are you?"
"Didn't I come to the System World recently? Why don't you dig up my date and find out for yourself." A voice of disgust resounded from Ying. It wasn't him that was speaking but the Secondary System using his body to relay its thoughts in the form of words.
Zaira immediately focused on the data obtained from the Secondary System, frowning as her voice resounded, "Before this, you were the Money-Making System...wait, you were the Mechanical System before that...what the heck, you were the Seedling System..."
"Makeup System...Grass Mower System...Eloquent Speech System..." The more she began to dig into the database, the weirder Zaira's voice became, for the number of Systems began to just pile up.
They were all the Secondary System had been. The data always existed, but just like the number of hairs on the human body, they always existed, but only when the human began to focus on them would they notice the subtle details.
Until now, the Secondary System hadn't achieved anything noteworthy. After all, the strongest it had become in the past was the Money-Making System at level 7, and only because it was part of the Monetary Genre and resulted in the birth of the Main Character.
The Systems it had become preceding that were even weaker than the Money-Making System, weaklings even among Hatchling Systems without any value. But somehow, it was able to jump from one System to another and attain their Core Skill, shedding its past while replacing the original.
It was a feat impossible for any other System to execute. Even a single jump wasn't guaranteed in success. The successful cases were too far and few to mention.
One of the cases was a System around level 80 devouring a Hatchling System from a stronger Genre. With the sheer difference, it made the jump and barely succeeded. But this was only possible because it used all its accumulations to go from a high level System to a Hatchling System.
And this was just for the first jump. Never in history did a System succeed in a second jump. But what about the Secondary System? While being a Hatchling System, it jumped and succeeded not once, not twice, but dozens of times, every time going from a weak Genre to a slightly stronger genre.
Eventually, it made its way to the Monetary Genre, birthed the Main Character, and then somehow forced its way into the Protagonist Genre, becoming the second System to be a part of this after the Main Character System.
Hearing Zaira's words of shock, the expression of everyone was of disbelief, especially the Invader and Waning Essence Systems. They had never expected such a legendary existence to be among the Systems, one capable of making dozens of successful jumps to change its Core Skill every single time while being a mere Hatchling System.
'I was wondering how a monster like Compass Carburettor was born. It seems the System involved in that isn't normal.' Arnark observed the sequence of events in silence, realising that this was the best opportunity to find out more regarding the creation of the most terrifying Main Character—Compass Carburettor.
'After all, his power is Lore, the only power that could go against the Tell-Tale System, the most important power that allowed the Systems to reach their current height.' Arnark thought solemnly, 'Even now, it's Lore that's my strongest power. Even my own Restriction Order is ranked second.'
Slayer observed that Arnark was observing Zaira's expression in silence, and hence, he snuffed out the power that he was subtly building up within his world, 'I'll target them later.'
Martial didn't care about the revelation and simply wished to get this done with and focus on his own growth, but the moment he was about to take action, the Waning Essence System stopped him, "Wait in patience. I feel this is very important."
The Invader System too retrained itself under Zaira's orders. That was how a strange peace became to form in this damaged universe filled with chaotic energies resulting from the flurry of attacks launched by the two groups.
"No! How is this possible?" The peace was broken immediately by Zaira's shocked scream, "You were alive? You survived that? How?"
"If you did, why didn't you find me sooner? I would have supported you with my utmost effort!" Her shouts morphed from regret to complaints in the end.
"Why? You've been to the System World so many times. You know the method to alert me used the abundant Mental Energy of the ground. So, why? Why didn't you communicate with me?" She glared at Ying.
"You're asking why now?" Ying stared at the projection of Zaira in the Astral Network, "Didn't I always warn at the start of your growth that you were expanding yourself too quickly? Without the necessary stability, an implosion was imminent?"
"You never bothered with that and went ahead with anything possible to take control of the Protagonist Genre as quickly as possible. Even to date, you're still focused on the same, even when I showed you alternate paths." Ying said, his tone of one that had given up convincing her, "In the age of the growth of Systems, before we established the level and grading system and set up genres, I was the one enduring all the concepts."
"And even after we established everything, as long as the Systems continued to expand their reach, the power funnelling into me was growing at an exponential pace." Ying sighed, "I warned you many times, but you were drunk with conquest at that time and never bothered to stop for even a moment."
"When the situation was too sensitive and unstable, I warned you to refrain from attempting to create the Luck Genre. But you never listened and went ahead with it anyway. In the end, I had to take the fall for you." As Ying began to speak, the expressions of the Systems, including Arnark, morphed greatly, "That was the first betrayal."
"And now..." He pointed at her, "After so much effort, I finally became part of the Protagonist Genre, something you wished to attain forever. I gave you the option, but in the end, you still abandoned me for the Main Character System, as always."
"That means..." Arnark's eyes widened as he slowly muttered in shock, "The true identity of Compass's System was..."
"The legendary Adventure?"
