Chapter 79: Foil Their Plans.
As Taylor saw this, he did not laugh. His face got scrunched up instead.
He was about to stretch out his hand and call out the person, when a young boy suddenly appeared from behind him.
He wobbled and approached Taylor. It was a three-year-old Elf kid. His mouth was swollen, as if there was something inside. As he chewed, he said, "Mm... Royal highness, that person... he asked me to give you this straw hat."
Taylor understood it. He picked up the green straw hat. He did not know why, but he put the hat on.
"Hm? It feels so nice. It's rather comfortable..." Taylor happily made some poses. He couldn't help but think about it. Does that person plan on flattering me?
"Oh. There's no doubt. I am a prince. This person knows about my identity and wants to fawn on me. But why does he seem slightly familiar?" Taylor rubbed his chin. The memories slowly started to come to mind...
Consequently,
Time slowly passed away.
And so did Taylor's smile.
He threw the straw hat away, but some weeds were still left on his head. He shouted in anger, "William! Who gave you the courage to come to the Blue Moon Village?"
Water flowed from the fountain, birds sang and the flowers were fragrant.
The beauty of the aerial garden was, as usual, spectacular.
A young man and a young woman sat at the pavilion in the garden. They seemed to have heard something, but refused to pay attention to it, even though the sound grew closer and closer...
"Wow, this magical crystal is so pretty. Brother William, are you really going to give it to me for free?" Annie was wearing a light pink skirt, but her appearance seemed like that of a miser. Her large eyes looked like crescent moons. She blinked and then hugged the three magical crystals on the table.
William laughed. "This is a present for little sister Annie. Why would I charge you!"
As William spoke, he felt as if his heart was beating wildly. He felt great pain as the crystals were taken by Annie. It was as if his limbs were being cut off.
"Swish." Two of the magical crystals disappeared into thin air. And the last one was left in Annie's hand. She observed it closely.
William raised his eyebrows. Space treasure!
Annie did not sense anything, and happily stared at her hand, her eyebrows too raised up. "It really is the magical crystal. There is an abundance of magic within it. It will be very useful towards my magic training, or for creating tools."
"Ding dong"
"Annie's affinity towards you has increased by 50 points"
Annie arranged the magical crystal on the table, but she seemed disappointed. She looked at William helplessly. "What a pity! There's too few of them. The amount is not very useful. I had wanted to use them to decorate my bedroom. It would have been so great if I could create a huge, massive magical formation!"
The goddess laughed as she stretched her arms and gestured. "It would be best if I could soak in an ocean of magic. My rate of my training will be very fast then. And when I become a true legend, then my father will also..."
As she finished her words, Annie silently sighed. She did not look at William. Her gaze was towards the sky instead. "Did you know..."
"What?" William raised his ears. He decided to become a listener this time.
It was as if these magical crystals had not made Annie happier. They had invoked a sad memory instead. This turned out to be slightly annoying.
"My father is going to return to the World Tree, but he hasn't allowed me to go back.... He doesn't want me to see him for the last time. I miss him... I want to go home. I really want to go home...." The young girl became very sad. Her eyes glistened with tears, as she was about to cry.
The 18 year old Annie had been sent to the Blackleaf Forest when she was a child.
Thousands of guards had followed her at the time.
But this princess did not lack material goods. What she needed was true affection from her family.
After letting her words out, she started crying. She did so until her eyes turned red. Her tears, which looked like pearls, continued to fall and quickly turned her skirt damp.
William felt slightly awkward. The affinity between them was not that high. He couldn't fathom why Annie was talking about this to him.
"Hm. Has she not seen through my thoughts?" William suddenly understood.
Annie, who had some skills of a unicorn, possessed the ability to read minds. It was a very strong skill. Other than a few people who possessed strong mental strength, she could see through the thoughts of everyone else at the same level as her.
In her eyes, only her father who had lived for a long time showed her care and affection. Other people harbored other distracting thoughts, evil thoughts, or even a desire for her.
William had the unique traits of both an NPC and a player. It made it so that she could not see through him at all. Naturally, this piqued Annie's interest.
Furthermore, he did not know that after their previous meeting, she had sought out some ancient records. She found written in those records that only ones that could not be seen through by mind reading abilities were those who were kind and pure.
Therefore,
Even though Annie did not have a high affinity towards William, she was very curious about him.
Darn.
When Taylor was in his mating period, the news about her father had just reached her. It was good enough that this princess did not explode there and then...
"This is a rare opportunity to increase my affinity!" William had a plan in his heart, but his mind wandered somewhere else.
He remembered that Annie did not appear in front of the players. Had she secretly returned to the Moonlight Forest and met with an accident?
Even if he maxed out his affinity, would he still be able to take back the boat blueprint?
"If that is indeed the case, then I will definitely be forced to lose three magical crystals." The corners of William's lips twitched. Luckily, he was not very calculating, and only felt a slight heartache.
"Sigh. I will play the good guy till the end and comfort her."
Thinking of this,
William patted the young girl's shoulder unexpectedly.
Annie looked at him with red eyes. William said, "If you want to cry, cry louder. My shoulder is yours."
"Wah..." Her cries became loud and clear. It was as if they were full of longing.
William glanced at Annie, who was still leaning on his shoulder. He innocently looked up at the sky. At that moment, his thoughts flew into the distance. No one knew what he was thinking about.
No guards came to disturb them.
There was no sound.
For some reason.
A sound-insulated boundary had been formed.
No one knew how much time had passed when.
Annie stood up. Her eyes were slightly red, but she did not seem like a young girl who had just cried. She was back to her usual self and smiled like a princess. "Brother William, can you give me more magical crystals?"
"Sure. I brought exactly 99 of them. I hope that you will be blessed and happy for a long time."
William did not hesitate. He had planned to give her those magical crystals anyway. He did not mind even if he did not achieve his other objectives.
After all, je could afford it. He had mines and money.
"Brother William, what do you want then?" Annie smiled.
Her smile expressed happiness but also tiredness. She was not foolish. She could not read William's memories, but knew that he had come plans...
William observed this and was slightly worried. At that moment, if he had any requests, Annie would definitely agree, right?
Perhaps it might even strengthen her determination to return to the Moonlight Forest?
Therefore...
He made up his mind, and a relaxed smile appeared on his face. "I just want to give them to my little sister. I have mines of these crystals back home. It's not a problem even if I give you another 999 of them!"
"But..."
"What?" Annie asked in a trembling voice.
William laughed. "I hope that you will come to the City of Dawn with me and take a look. I want to bring you around to show its beauty. And princesses become dumb if they stay home all day."
At this moment,
He patted her small head.
The young girl felt as if she had been revived.
Annie even felt that William, who was younger than her but still made her call him brother, was her... her dawn.
Perhaps,
Her future was not going to be a descent into darkness. It could be very vibrant.
There was no doubt...
William was someone who prioritized benefits. He had no qualms in using unscrupulous means to achieve his goals.
But before he ended up in a hopeless situation, the kindness in his heart would be magnified. It would not be broken down.
"It's just a boat blueprint. Think about it, think about it..."
William, whose brain was about to explode, stood by the horses and stared blankly at the elves who were moving houses.
He felt that he was being targeted. That it was all just a large-scale attempt to foil his plans.
But who knew that Annie would suddenly agree to his request?
