Chapter 78: Dekan Comes To Catch People
Initially, Teacher Cat was too scared to fall asleep. However, it noticed that Dekan was sleeping peacefully and gradually drifted off to sleep with him.
If they'll end up dying, let's die together!
As a result, the sun rose as usual the next day. Yesterday, Lility and everyone had agreed to gather at 6:30 in the morning. So even though Dekan wanted a bit more sleep, he still got up at six o'clock.
Sometimes, when you're out traveling, you have to look after the group's schedule.
After freshening up, Dekan drew the curtains. Outside, there was still an overwhelming blizzard, the sky was dim, and the sun had just appeared on the horizon.
A nice view.
Then, Dekan turned around and rubbed Teacher Cat, who was still lying in bed.
"Let me sleep a bit more, meow..."
"Then sleep in my shadow; otherwise, I'll have to leave you in the room."
"Meow..."
Teacher Cat reluctantly climbed out of the soft bed and plunged into Dekan's shadow.
Dekan left room 204 and walked to the door of room 205 where Cornelia had stayed yesterday.
"Knock, knock."
Accompanying the knocking on the door were faint footsteps from inside.
Cornelia didn't immediately open the door.
"Password."
She said from behind the door.
"Password."
Dekan calmly responded.
So, Cornelia opened the door.
Team Beautiful Heart's password was password.
They didn't have to worry about the password being heard by others through the live stream because Dekan had turned off the "Shadow World Viewing Program" before going to sleep. As a lifestyle and travel category streamer, he didn't need to let the audience watch him sleep. According to the contract, the non-strategy portions of the Shadow World were not required to be broadcast. He would re-enable the program at the agreed-upon gathering time of 6:30.
Cornelia left her room, locked the door, and walked with Dekan in the corridor.
"What activities do we have today?" Cornelia appeared to be in good spirits, even looking forward to the new day.
Dekan: "Let's go and deal with the werewolf later; I have a way to track it down."
Cornelia: "Okay."
When it came to incapacitating enemies and then disposing of them, Cornelia felt quite proficient working with Dekan.
The two of them arrived in the living room at the agreed-upon time.
Lilith and her guard, as well as the twin sisters, were already there.
There were slight dark circles under their eyes, clearly indicating that they hadn't slept well last night.
When they saw Dekan and Cornelia, they were slightly surprised by the mental state of these two.
"It looks like you both had a good rest last night," Lilith greeted them with a sigh.
"Ensuring my lady enjoys the best sleep is my duty," Dekan replied elegantly and calmly.
He had fully embraced the role of "the talented young lady's butler."
"It seems you're quite confident in your combat abilities. Do you believe you can take on a tier 6 werewolf in battle?" Lilith asked with a hint of probing.
Her assessment of Dekan's combat prowess had silently risen another notch.
In this tier 4 Shadow World, the possibility of tier 5 strong existences appearing was there. And there were very few extraordinary tier 5 individuals who could compete with a tier 6.
So in the Shadow World, there was a very slim chance of encountering situations where overpowering confrontations occurred.
Right now, she felt that Dekan was such an extraordinary force.
This was the only reason why he was so confident in protecting Miss Detective.
"It's not that exaggerated," Dekan shook his head in response.
So the six of them sat in the living room, beginning their wait.
Time passed minute by minute, and the three kingdom knights never appeared.
The people in the living room had a clear understanding of what this meant.
The atmosphere gradually dropped to freezing point, and all three groups became especially wary of the other two.
They seemed prepared for a sudden attack at any moment.
Even Dekan furrowed his brow.
In his expectations, these three kingdom knights shouldn't have met a tragic fate.
The enemy's methods seemed far more brutal than he had imagined.
With such a mysterious murder, even Dekan couldn't find a way to save them.
Lilith spoke with a heavy expression on her face: "It seems they won't be coming. Let's discuss what happened last night and then investigate the bedrooms."
Everyone nodded one by one.
Although the atmosphere was tense, maintaining cooperation was still the best solution.
"Last night, the two of us stayed together," Lilith began, pointing to her guard. "First, we heard some strange noises before ten o'clock; the source seemed to be on the second floor."
"Later in the middle of the night, we heard the footsteps of a werewolf outside our door. But it was strange, it seemed like the werewolf was acting alone."
"It only stayed in front of our door for a while and then left."
"A little while later, we heard the werewolf's miserable howl, and after that, nothing happened for the rest of the night."
Lilith also felt somewhat puzzled.
It was too eerie.
Especially the werewolf's roars; Lilith couldn't fathom the reason behind them. Even Miss Detective's guard shouldn't have had such an exaggerated combat ability to beat a werewolf so violently, right?
The descriptions from the twin sisters and Dekan and Cornelia were similar.
Dekan didn't confess to what he had done to the werewolf last night. If he explained too abstractly, he would be unjustly suspected, but if he described it too specifically, he might reveal his card information to the werewolf hiding among them.
The werewolf hadn't seen the Ruined Poet last night. It probably didn't understand the mechanism of the Ruined Poet; otherwise, it would have been prepared in advance, rather than using "Berserk" at the last moment.
So, the werewolf likely didn't know that Dekan could multiply everyone's pain without selecting a target. It probably thought it could continue lurking safely.
Dekan had some preparations to make before he could expose the werewolf.
Silently, he walked to the piano and looked down at the hexagram array under the piano that everyone had discovered yesterday. Originally, only one corner of this hexagram array emitted a faint red light. Now, four corners were glowing red.
Others quickly gathered around the piano.
They all understood Dekan's intention.
This hexagram array must hold some meaning, and last night's events likely caused a change in it.
"If the initial red light referred to the mansion's owner, would the additional three red lights indicate that three kingdom knights have sacrificed?" Lilith murmured with a solemn expression, looking at the four red lights on the hexagram array.
"It's likely," Dekan expressed his opinion, a rarity for him.
He seemed not to intend to hold back anymore.
Lilith asked, "What will happen if all six corners are lit?"
Dekan replied, "Do you remember the story we saw? There should have been a werewolf, a witch, and a vampire in this mansion, but where is the vampire?"
Hearing Dekan's words, Lilith felt a chill running down her spine.
