Chapter 768: Taking Over Hunters

Thump! Thump!

Compass Carburettor felt his heart thumping in alarm all of a sudden, unaware of the reason for the cause. Immediately after, he felt a portion of his strength being stolen, shocking him.

'Someone is stealing my strength.' He focused, realising immediately that the avenue to steal his strength hadn't been created. Meaning, there didn't exist an enemy that could steal his power.

Therefore, there was just one person that could do this.

Gehera!

"Gehera needs to touch me to unleash her Ruin of Amagoth on me. How did she do it..." He muttered before breaking into a smile, "I see, Stencil has my Anthozoa."

The moment the Relic came into existence, its trait influenced him, allowing him to bestow Anthozoa to anyone he pleased, one with all the Bullet Templates that it possessed at that point in time.

The Anthozoa in Stencil's hands could indeed be used as a pathway to channel Gehera's Ruin of Amagoth into him and siphon his powers.

"The fact that Gehera is siphoning my powers must mean Stencil prompted her to do so." He analysed the situation. After all, without Stencil intending to do this, Gehera couldn't get her hands on Anthozoa.

'So, they've probably encountered a situation where my presence is necessary.' Thinking as such, Compass Carburettor stared at the sky, "Now, how do I make my way there?"

Any power stolen by Gehera would become hers, even if that was a System's power. That was how her Ruin of Amagoth functioned as. Therefore, if he continued to allow her to steal his powers, he would be sucked dry eventually.

And, he didn't have the means to leave this world and head to the location on his own. But, that was only when considering his own powers.

A moment of thought later, Compass Carburettor took in a deep breath and clenched his hand into a fist, "Come!"

...

"Steady..." A soft voice resounded telepathically as a group of people remained on standby, watching a man walk onto a podium that was spectated by almost a million people.

The man was the Chairman of the Hunter Association, pretty much the one with the most power and sway over people in the world. Currently, he had intended to give a speech addressing a group of miscreants that were wreaking havoc throughout the world.

"Is everyone ready?" The soft voice resounded as the people in hiding gulped in response.

"Now...it's snack time!" The soft voice began to giggle in response, causing the group in hiding to facepalm one after another. They were so serious but now, they were seriously trying their best to rein in their laughter.

Right at this time, one of the men in hiding was in disbelief, pointing at the stage to state in alarm, "Why is Yecha on the stage now? Weren't we supposed to wait until the opportune moment and assassinate the Chairman?"

"The plan's gonna fail!"

"Idiot!" The soft voice resounded with a tone of confidence, "Yecha is the strongest Hunter in the world now. Just let her do her thing."

"Stop! Freeze!" The Chairman's guards rushed onto the stage, pointing their weapons at a woman donned in black. Upon seeing the other party continue to approach them, they made eye contact before jumping onto her.

Guuong!

Their blades stopped mysteriously upon coming close to her. No matter how much they struggled or exerted their strength, their blades failed to budge.

One of the guards stared at the woman's eyes at this moment, trembling in fear at the jet-black eyes that shone with starlight, akin to containing an entire galaxy in the vast depths of her entity.

Tch!

Followed by a swap of her finger, the guards transformed into energy and flowed into her body. The Grade 2 System Fragment growing in their bodies was converted, absorbed, and assimilated by her, allowing her to grow stronger.

Boom!

"Die!" The Hunter Association Chairman bellowed in rage, swinging his mighty hammer that sparkled with thunder.

As one of the strongest Hunters in the world, it was his task to dispatch this villain. But, the moment his hammer slammed into the other party, he was stunned, sensing his strength leaving him gradually, alarming him.

"So, the Chairman is only at this level?" Yecha tilted her head in confusion before snorting, feeling that she had been betrayed, "Why the heck did Domino train me so extensively then?"

Her hand clenched, shattering the hammer as the power in it flowed into her body. She then took a step forward, approaching the Chairman to gently place her hand on his chest, "Old man, why don't you retire?"

"You...stop! No!" The Chairman screamed in fear before slumping to the ground, no longer possessing his powers as a Hunter. Instead, he had become a weak mortal now.

He then stared at the woman before him in fear, for she seemed even more unfathomable now.

'You've finally arrived at this stage, Yecha.' She thought, staring at the million people that had congregated for this event, announcing as her booming voice resounded throughout the place, allowing her face to flash through all media channels in the world.

"Today marks the day of our world's rise. We'll adopt a power that is safer, stabler, and allows us to have better lives, unlike the Hunters who are bound by the Systems they gain power from. Class, Skills, there wouldn't be any such limitations from here."

She raised her hand, clenching it into a fist, "Those that wish to join the revolution, you only need to convey your conviction. You'll gain power automatically."

"Freedom!"

Her voice boomed, "That one word is all you need to utter to break free of the current Hunter dominance and embark on a new era."

"Freedom!" A commoner that was dissatisfied with the Hunters was the first to utter the word, noticing strength well up from within him, surprising him as he shouted in joy, "It works! It works! I have power now!"

One of the cameramen focused on him, transmitting the information to the rest of the world.

"I'm dissatisfied too." An E-Rank Hunter muttered, clenching his fist tightly, for his strength never improved beyond a certain point, causing him to be stuck as a low-ranked Hunter for more than two decades now.

His eyes turned serious as he muttered, "Freedom!"

Crackle!

He could feel the power in him shatter and dissipate before which a new power filled the vacuum. It was weak, allowing him to understand that he had become many times weaker than before. But, he could also sense that as long as he trained religiously, he would grow stronger, unlike the Hunter power system that decided on a limit for him.

"Thank you."
