Chapter 75: A Fawning Dog Would Always Have His Reasons

Night fell.

Three pale-blue moons rose high up in the sky.

The world that William inhabited was too large, so to reduce the gravitational pull many large satellites were required. So multiple moons surrounded his planet.

But for three moons to come out in the night sky, it was a rare sight. It turned into an occasion for people to come out and celebrate the nice view.

The moonlight and magic lamps illuminated the entire City of Dawn. It was small in size, but the City was much more appealing than many other Human cities. However, the City of Dawn could not be compared to the King's palace.

At this moment, nobody knew how many animals and races were lifting their heads and gazing at the city that was on the cliff.

The Rainbow River that passed through the City of Dawn had been widened. Many river branches had been created, as per the city planning, to let the river propagate to the entire city. Then these river branches converged before they fell off the cliff.

Since the cliff served as the protective wall of the City of Dawn, William had no intention to construct high walls along the cliff boundary.

Of course,

The main vein of the Rainbow River was the real city center.

On the side of the river, a pavilion was constructed. Located at the southernmost tip of the plaza, it was a place where one could enjoy the scenery of the northern plain in peace.

William sat in the pavilion and sipped his fruit wine. There was nobody around except for a few kids who were stealing glances at this revered Lord.

A few blushing ladies kept gazing at him discreetly while fantasizing about their dream lovers. When they could not sleep at night, they would let their imagination run wild...

William surveyed the commoners at the plaza. They were at the central fountain chatting, dancing, sipping wine or singing happily.

He smiled blissfully and enjoyed his wine.

Sounds of footsteps appeared from behind him.

But William did not turn to look.

Lautner sighed and asked, "My Lord, are you thinking of meeting your mother?"

"What?"

"Didn't you know? Your mother..."

"Cut the crap. Speak clearly." William turned his head, and looked at Lautner with a cold gaze. He had complex feelings about this strange mother. As he inherited this identity, he also inherited the feelings a son had towards his mother, and he believed it should be kept this way.

So if his mother had met with a mishap, William did not know how to deal with it.

"My Lord, since I brought back the Life Potion, many princes proposed to the Elfin King... The Blackleaf King has prohibited Princess Alice from meeting you or providing any aid.

"Anyway, anything that was related to you has been prohibited." Lautner spoke the words one by one.

It took a great effort on his part.

It was as though Lautner was about to collapse from exhaustion.

He dared not contemplate the possibility that the sixteen-year-old William would collapse after hearing it. And whether William would be filled with misery and despair.

No matter what the child William had done.

It was not his fault that he had the bloodline of a half-Elf. The Elfin princes in the Dark Night City were too much...

However,

William showed no emotions. He was still the aloof Lord and kept his composure.

After a long time,

William laughed at himself and said, "That's heartless. Is my proposal to visit Dark Night City about to be scrapped?"

"This..." Lautner was speechless. He was unable to rebuke or explain to William in the conference hall.

If outsiders got to know about this, the Lord's authority would be greatly undermined.

But Lautner regretted that he had not told the truth to William at an earlier opportunity. Perhaps, he had never seen him as a mature Lord, and he still treated William as a child.

"You may leave. I want to think it over for a while." The emotionally drained William waved his hand as he leaned on the cold blackwater rock pillar. He let his thoughts drift to a faraway place.

"Where else can we obtain the blueprint for constructing a ship? Seaside City, the fortified city of East Sea, the Three Empires, or the Dwarves that were near to the sea... Who else... who else has the blueprints?" William scratched his head.

Since the visit to Dark Night City was not feasible, he had to think of other ways.

He believed that there was always a way out.

Only a trashy person would do nothing and complain.

He thought of other cities, but these cities and power centers lied outside the boundary in the 1.0 version of the game.

It was fairly easy for William to visit Dark Night City. At least, his safety was guaranteed. As for other places, it was hard to say...

If he encountered hot-tempered and powerful adversaries, he might have to go six feet under.

"In version 1.0, both Iron Nation and Black Lava Nation did not develop their nautical industry. Though this is a realistic game, I have no knowledge about shipbuilding. It will be good if I can get a small boat..." William felt troubled.

However,

He had to act tough.

Even if he was suffering, he must not display it.

How could he maintain his authority as a Lord otherwise?

If he was unable to obtain the shipbuilding blueprint, how would his subordinates view him?

There was always a first step. If he started the nautical industry early, it would be critical for his future expansion. William had ambitious plans for the future... No, it was necessary for him to do it...

William stood up and gazed at the four cardinal directions with locked brows. The images of his previous life flashed in his mind. Time passed as he watched the commoners at the plaza disperse and return to their homes for rest.

William looked at the Blackleaf forest again.

What he saw was not Dark Night City.

It was Blue Moon Town.

"Among the three Elfin nations, there is no saying that only the Blackleaf Elves have the shipbuilding skills. The Moonlight Elves are located on the central island of the legendary continent.

"The Moonlight Elves was surrounded by the boundless lake which was as large as the Earth's Mediterranean sea. The Moonlight Elves inherited the skills of their ancestors and they had superb shipbuilding skills."

William squinted his eyes. It would not be easy to obtain the shipbuilding skills of the Moonlight Elves. He had to do some things to get them for her.

Fawning...

It could not be helped.

Fawning was the only way to get into the good books of the Moonlight princess.

"I didn't expect myself to become a fawning dog one day..." William felt indignant. Fortunately, he had the chance to be the fawning dog of the princess. Other people did not even have that opportunity.

He felt better after consoling himself. He even felt superior.

"Hmm, 30 points. Are my friendship points with her only just that?" William stroked his chin. He had only met Princess Annie once, and they were not on friendly terms. These friendship points had been accumulated due to the Mithril transactions in this past half-year period.

The princess thought of herself as a fairy. She was very proud and hard to please.

But there was another problem.

The little fairy loved mundane items!

She was fond of items like Mithril, golden dust, precious stones and other shiny and valuable items.

As per her words, she used these items to decorate her house which was the huge boundless tree.

William found it hard to imagine how luxurious her bedroom would be. He had the desire to spend a night in that room...

It indeed seemed true that women and Dragons had a common love.

"To improve the friendship points, fawning alone is not enough. I have the best talent in this world for fawning, but... but if the points increase too slowly for my liking..." William raised his brows, and his gaze went towards the southern direction once again.

"It's time to find a new ore source. Well... I'll use it. It's highly valuable and very eye-catching. I don't believe I can't win over the little princess with this. I'll make Annie harass her father to obtain the shipbuilding blueprint." A sinister laugh appeared on his face as William licked his lips.
