Chapter 67: Sparing Session 2.0
In the dorms, Lucas was searching for a blacksmith to help him forge a weapon on his phone.
There were blacksmiths in the academy but it's better to build it somewhere else. After racking his brains, Lucas finally found a good blacksmith where he could ask the blacksmith to build a sword.
Though, he doubted whether the amount of metal would be enough to forge a sword, still wouldn't hurt to give it a try.
Putting down his phone, Lucas made his way towards the swords club.
After joining it, Lucas was offered a Grade 1 scripture but he refused after all he will only be wasting his time practising it. He will try to show them his worth so that they can at least invest in him and provide him with Grade 2 scripture.
Even if they don't, the drifting sword technique was enough for him for now. Not all can be said as lucky as even most of the third year don't have grade 2 scriptures.
Honestly, it was a blessing that Miss Ami provided me with this.
Entering the sword club, I saw the same scene of students sparring and practising with their swords.
Lucas stared at Ken, admiring him for a few minutes trying to learn something from his movements.
Seeing him, he learnt some things like, when he does a sword strike in close range, his body was lower half was always steady and stable without much movement and the way he shifted his weight onto his front before slashing the sword.
Lucas sighed, thinking about the time it will take him to reach Ken's level. Every time he see him, he could feel his passion for fighting him burning stronger.
Turning around, he took a sword from the side and started swinging it and tried to imitate his movements as much as possible.
Ken was not practising any scriptures or arts, he was just practising the basics as the saying goes 'Moves which are simplest are the best.'
While Lucas was immersed in practising, someone's annoying voice made him stop his tracks.
Stopping someone amidst his practice is quite rude.
Lucas turned around to find an annoying familiar figure standing behind his back giving him a smug smile.
He was none other than Brock whom he fought during the sparring session. He honestly didn't expect him to join this club.
Glancing at Lucas, Brock spoke haughty"I want to challenge you for a duel. Do you dare to accept it or you are gonna run away from challenges tugging your tail between your legs."
Lucas frowned and raised his brows seeing Brock giving him a smug look. In the last fight, though he had defeated Brock, he still got injured due to this bastard sneak attack.
After being defeated by him, he dont knows where Brock got back his confidence.
Lucas looked at him and saw that he had broken to 2-Star.
Pondering for a moment, he spoke"Okay. Let's spar
. So how are we doing it?"
Brock nodded in satisfaction and pointed out to the arena where we will have the duel.
There are rules in the swords club where you have to inform the instructor before you go on a duel so that someone can regulate the match.
After getting permission we walked inside the arena and stood in front of each other.
Lucas noticed Brock looking at me with disdain. Brock's eyes flashed in ruthlessness as if he was going to devour him.
'He surely will not go easy on me and will try to injure me.'Lucas thought.
If it was before a few months, Brock may have had a chance but the current him is capable enough to take on 10 people like him at the same time.
Brock looked at Lucas taking his stance and thought of the ways, he will use to injure and humility Lucas.
The fight with Lucas in the sparring season was a nightmare that he will never forget for the rest of his life. Not only he was defeated by this maggot, due to attacking him after the match, he was also given a strict warning.
Losing to maggot with a bronze bloodline was a huge shame. Even his parents were dissatisfied with his performance and he was started to be looked down on the social circles.
He had always thought of ways to get back at him but he was busy with the academic stuff so he had forgotten about it until now.
Just a few days ago, he joined the swords club, he saw Lucas practising around the corner. As his strength had risen, he found the duel a perfect opportunity to wash away his shame and take back his revenge.
'Weakling, Today will be the day that will be etched deep in your heart for the rest of your life.'Brock gave a faint smile looking at Lucas.
If only, he knew that Lucas had killed 3-Star and defeated a second year to join the club, he would have wet his pants before thinking of challenging him.
"Begin, "The instructor shouted.
Like an arrow released from a bow, Brock rushed towards Lucas charging at him.
Lucas just sidestepped ducking Brock and giving him an elbow on his back.
Bang.
Brock groaned in pain as he was hit on his back and was tiptoed, still he quickly rotated to retain his balance.
Turning back, he stabbed in Lucas's direction.
Lucas lazily blocked the attack and Brock took his posture and kept on stabbing which was deflected easily by Lucas. Lucas was lazily swinging his sword, left and right and blocking his attacks as if this was a child's play for him.
Although Lucas was taking a step back with Brock each attack, it doesn't look like he was pressured.
He was just trying to bulge Brock's ego before flattening it, in one go.
Brock threw numerous slashes and cuts to take down Lucas but not a single strike was able to shake Lucas's defence.
Brock's breathing became heavy and he was starting to get exhausted. He was continuously looking for an opening but the boy before him looked like an iron wall with no weak points to attack.
Getting frustrated, he used the skill he got from his family.
" Blaze Blade," Brock shouted and swung his sword with full force.
His sword glowed for a moment and the mana covered around his sword and the sword started to flicker with flames.
The instructor panicked seeing Brock wanting to use a skill in a normal duel.
Lucas looked at Brock's attack with a bored expression.
He had even lost the count of times, things like this occurred when an asshole like Brock tried to win by any means when forced into a corner.
Still, he was genuinely surprised seeing him able to use sword moves after all it is not easy to master. Still analysing Brock's skills, he can conclude that this must be Grade 3 scripture and though he had barely mastered it, the pressure emitted from the attack was quite frightening.
"I think, I should start getting serious," Lucas muttered.
Closing his eyes, he took a deep breath.
Opening his eyes, he tightened the grip on his sword.
The lazy look of Lucas was replaced by coldness.
Brock shuddered for a moment seeing the change in Lucas's attitude. In contrast to Lucas's previous naive and carefree look which give one feeling that he doesn't know much about his surrounding, at the moment he looked like a boy who has gone through countless battles and there is not a tinge of mercy in his eyes which looked at him as prey that is going to be hunted.
Still, Brock didn't want to give in. He knew if he used this move Lucas couldn't make a comeback after all how can a poor bastard like him could afford a move to counter his.
Shifting his weight in the right foot, he slashed his swords in Lucas's direction.
A huge arc of flames 10 metres wide headed towards Lucas which sliced the floor of the arena on its way.
Lucas's eyes gleamed in excitation seeing Brock's attack.
'Finally something challenging.'Lucas thought.
Taking a step forward, clenching the hilt of the sword, he moved his mana onto his sword.
He slashed with his sword giving a horizontal cut with a loud shout"Drifting sword, Wind Blade."
A huge arc of wind blades released from the tip of Lucas's sword and collided with the flame arc released by Brock.
A huge shockwave spread across the arena. The wind blade of Lucas not only neutralized Brock's attack but also sliced it in half and kept towards Brock with its remaining power after destroying the flame arc.
Brock was shocked to his core after seeing his attack easily dealt with. His legs trembled and he fall on his back and he raised his hand, covering his face.
Luckily the wind blade turned slightly in the air and went past him without harming him.
Brock's back was already drenched in sweat seeing the strength of the attack. As he came back to his sense, he saw Lucas standing before him pointing his sword on his neck, looking at him with sharp indifferent eyes.
Brock clenched his fist after getting defeated.
The surroundings students that were gathered around the arena turned silent.
For some time there was silence in the entire hall.
There was no need for an announcement nor there was any need for any declaration. Everyone knew who was the winner was.
"Again, I....I lost. Why is this bug better and stronger than me?"Brock roared and started to curse Lucas.
Lucas didn't utter a word and turned back to leave.
'Since, I have already fallen this low. I don't give a shit about my face will at least take him down with me .' Brock muttered inwardly and pulled his sword and tried to attack Lucas behind his back.
The referee panicked seeing Brock wanting to sneak attack on Lucas and moved to stop it but before Brock could swing his sword.
Bang.
No one saw what happened but within a moment a silhouette flew out of the arena crashing on the wall.
"No second time." Lucas grinned as he gave a sidekick to Brock's chest making him fly away out of the arena.
Lucas didn't control his strength this time nor did he care to look back to see the condition of Brock and just left the sword club.
The attack was quite strong and even damaged Brock's internals, he coughed blood and his vision blurred seeing Lucas's back fading away without turning back to spare him a glance.
