Chapter 653: The Library [3]: The Only Hope
The fifth floor was the smallest so far. Its area was only equal to that of a soccer field.
{T-This floor contains myths and legends from devas...} The library spirit rambled on.
It was becoming quite obvious that the higher the floor, the more clarity the library spirit gained, and consequently, more information was available regarding the 'records'.
By that line of thought, this floor should've more information. Though that information would be useless since it's not about the divine path powers—which were actually needed to help out Sia.
'Myths and Legends?'
Varian shook his head in disinterest and spotted ten glowing chairs on the floor. He quickly sat Sia on one of them and watched her face turn comfortable. Her lips curled up and her quivering eyebrows settled.
He recognized that expression. When Sia won the school competition, she got a prize to enter a mind training center—a bunch of rooms where each room had a special herb that helps mind awakeners.
Originally, the gift was only a single ticket. But the school principal wanted Sia to 'bond' with his son, so he gave her another and heavily hinted for them to socialize while promising other benefits.
Sia accepted the second ticket and gave it to Varian. The principal and his son were both dumbstruck since she originally accepted his words to get the ticket and then pretended like she never said anything.
"What? I lied." Sia smiled mischievously as she explained the whole thing to the dumbfounded Varian.
"H-How can you lie?! How will your fans feel when they realize their goddess lies?" Varian sighed as if he was heartbroken.
"D-Don't blame me. I...only learned it from you. Remember the number of times you lied to Amanda about your injuries to escape having an earful?" Sia put her hand on her forehead and said even more dramatically.
Having caught red-handed, Varian turned his head and whistled like it was none of his business.
Anyway, when they visited the mind training center, Sia meditated in the training room, and her face showed the same expression.
"She isn't feeling pain anymore." Varian sighed and sat on the chair closest to her.
Szz!
A refreshing sensation spread from his toes to his head and Varian opened his mouth to exhale in satisfaction.
It felt like having a wonderful massage.
What's more, the aura in his body started to circulate faster and smoother. Varian was certain that if anyone practiced on this chair, their progress would increase significantly.
There was also a certain energy that tried to heal him. But since he had no injuries, it didn't work.
Varian quickly got up and scanned Sia.
The hostile chi in her body slowed down, but it wasn't subdued. Like trapped lava, it was threatening to break out at any moment.
Sia's three powers were desperately trying to stop the hostile chi and failing miserably.
Even with this chair's special effects, Sia won't be safe until the chi is taken out.
"H-Hang on..." He muttered in an anxious voice and extended a finger in her direction.
A very thin line containing the aura derivatives of his seven powers entered Sia's hand.
Then, Varian's aura confronted the hostile chi that was pushing back Sia's aura and destroying her organs.
'I can do it! I can do it!' Varian told himself.
He dealt with Kreo's mental power. So, this shouldn't be difficult.
Like Kreo's mental power, he decided to nibble it from the ends. So, as he pushed his aura to nibble at the edges of the hostile chi, the chi suddenly turned violent—
"Arghh!" Sia cried out in pain.
The aura he sent to her body was devoured by the hostile chi in an instant.
Varian's face paled and he realized that the situation was more complicated than he assumed.
The reason Kreos' mental power was relatively static in his mind could be due to multiple reasons.
One. For some reason, it didn't delete his memories. It merely shielded them. That in itself was suspicious.
Two. It had been almost one year since that mental power entered his body. Of course, it'd calm down.
Compared to that, Sia's condition was...
"V-Var..." Sia's body twisted as beads of sweat rolled down her forehead. She called his name as her eyes shut tighter in pain.
Varian's heart twisted at the sight and he had to look away from her miserable face.
His gaze ended up on the staircase.
The fifth floor wasn't working. So, the only solution was...
Varian left Sia on the chair and turned to the staircase. The thought of going up stayed in his mind, but only for a moment. He lifted her along with the chair and carried her to the next floor.
As silly as it sounded, he was worried she'd disappear if he didn't look at her. Varian still felt that it was surreal to see her again.
Meanwhile, on the sixth floor...
"Ah, come on!"
As he expected, there was a silver barrier blocking the entrance. If his calculations weren't far off, then this sixth floor was also the final floor of the pyramidal castle.
...which also meant this was the last hope to save her.
"I'm the Scion!" Varian shouted.
{O-Only the librarian and i-important guests...have the permission to enter.} The mechanical voice said.
"You forgot, there is a regulation allowing Scion—" He tried to make it work.
{While it's true that this one forgot the regulations about the lower floors, the rules, and regulations of the highest floor are remembered to the very last letter. } The voice was confident.
Varian's brows furrowed and his heart started to race in anxiety.
Using the chair on the fifth floor, Sia might be fine for a few more minutes, but after that...?
His only hope was the sixth floor's chair. It should be several times more powerful than the fifth floor's.
'If it can suppress the hostile power in her body, then I can eliminate the chi. She'll be out of danger!' Her life and death depended on this.
"I-Is there a way for me to become a librarian or an important guest?" He asked in a voice on the verge of desperation.
The voice didn't reply for a few seconds and Varian's heart started to grow heavy with despair.
Before he attempted something crazy, the voice responded.
{Y-Yes.}
