Chapter 598.4: Assimilating Data (Part 4)
"Haah!" Yecha sighed in exhaustion as she sat in a truck that carried her Hunter House. Ruruka and Ferohar lived somewhere far away, so they travelled through a different truck, making Yecha the sole person to travel alone.
"Uncle Mass, is your back alright?" She asked upon seeing a familiar face.
"Thanks to you, child." The truck driver, uncle Mass smiled in response, "I've never felt better."
"You didn't tell it to anyone else, right?" Yecha winked, "I'll get into trouble if I used my powers without authoritative notice."
A Hunter was prohibited to use their power beyond a dungeon or a training facility. This was to prevent any problems that might crop up in society.
But at least, if a regular Hunter used their power, there would be traces. But, a healer could be subtle about it. After all, most sicknesses and illnesses had to be checked in a hospital to be aware.
So, if it was an illness that hadn't been documented yet, no one would know if a healer treated it. Even though this was a great action, problems arose because of that in their capitalistic society.
After all, if all healers did this, then hospitals would run out of business, especially since most of the low-ranked healers worked there.
F-Rank healers were too weak to enter a dungeon. And hence, they joined hospitals to treat the patients and also gain experience in healing people better. Gradually, they might become E-Rank healers and obtain the qualification to enter the weakest of dungeons as part of a party.
This was one of the reasons why healers were banned from healing people of their own volition. But of course, there were plenty of healers that didn't follow it.
Of course, Yecha too was the same. If someone she knew were to fall sick, she would stealthily treat them. After all, depending on the illness, the medical bills would skyrocket, and at times even bankrupt the family.
But for her, as an A-Rank Healer, all it required was a simple wave of her hand. So, she stealthily did such things.
Of course, it was only for her family and those she was on friendly terms with.
Uncle Mass was someone she was familiar with since she was a child. He was the driver that dropped her at school when young, and once she became a Hunter, he drove the truck that carried her Hunter Home.
Driving for a Hunter was a lucrative job for a driver, for it was one of the highest-paying jobs around. And, Yecha had helped him get this.
But recently, he had an aching back and wasn't able to come. That was why Yecha helped heal his back.
"I won't do anything that would trouble you, child." Uncle Mass flashed a thumbs up as he revved the truck and began to drive it through the highway.
While they were on the road, Yecha thought of something while looking at the aging figure of uncle Mass, 'Say, Dota. Can you awaken anyone into a Hunter?'
'Not anyone.' Dota said, 'Not everyone has the qualifications to become a Hunter.'
These qualifications were simple: It was their quality as System Hosts.
Not everyone could become a System Host and bear a System in their bodies. And Hunters represented that the best.
No matter the world, the number of people that actually had the ability to handle a System was too little.
The System fragment in an F-Rank Hunter was too small, almost minuscule in size, even while being compared to a Hatchling System.
The requirements to become an F-Rank hunter were the least. But despite that, Hunters were few in number.
Some Hunters never levelled up despite the number of monsters they killed. It was because their bodies had already attained the limit to the size of the Hunter System fragment they could contain.
Grade 1 Systems have to carefully select their Hosts to obtain the best mental Energy possible to satisfy their growth and solidify their evolution.
But Grade 2 Systems wasn't as hands-on as Grade 1 Systems. Rather, they hardly even bothered about such things.
After invading a world where the native race didn't have any special power, they made Hosts and caused these Hosts to wield special powers. Everything apart that was automated.
New Hosts would appear the moment they qualify. And beyond that, the Grade 2 Systems would never interfere with whatever happens in the world.
After all, this would result in the most diverse Mental Energy stream that would constantly change depending on the era.
The Hunter System probably wasn't even aware of what was happening in the Hunter World. The Hunters did whatever they could, making laws to help themselves, the people, their countries, etc.
The Hunter System neither bothered nor cared enough about such things, content with the Mental Energy it received.
After all, due to the emergence of the Hunters, the world's focus shifted onto them. Meaning, the Hunters were always in the spotlight, from their emergence, and until the end of their existence.
And on S-Rank Hunters and above, each of their actions was witnessed by the world itself. They were basically the node that brought in the greatest sum of Mental Energy to the Hunter System.
Similarly, as such worlds were technological worlds, the monsters too were famous as people constantly discussed various monsters. And this meant a sizeable stream of Mental Energy funnelled into the Dungeon Monster System too.
Both the Grade 2 Systems grew at terrifying rates as a result. After all, it wasn't just one or two worlds under this status quo, but hundreds.
And in all, Hunters raided dungeons to kill the monsters. If they failed, a dungeon break would occur that would result in the monsters pouring out into the open to ensure a massacre.
Of course, they didn't create the same scenario in all the worlds, for that would restrict the variety of Mental Energy they would get. So, they mildly tweaked the power system granted to various worlds and enjoyed the process.
And best of all, they didn't even have to worry about what was happening, happily remaining in the System World as a dense stream of Mental Energy entered them.
This was why Grade 2 Systems were on a whole other level as compared to Grade 1 Systems. Of course, this was also why Dota was aiming for them. After all, the Hunter Worlds were one of the most lucrative treasure troves of Mental Energy.
