Chapter 530: Discovery of the Mechanical Civilization 4
The dark fog made it impossible to see anything.
The name itself had the term valley in it, but the place they were looking at couldn't be considered as one.
The endless cliffs on either side seemed as if someone had split the land in half.
The appearance was surely magnificent that it made those who went there feel impressed.
'What is this? It looks like the Grand Canyon.'
Ian stared up and down and bit his tongue.
The place where Ian and his party had entered was the middle of a high valley.
The starting point of the map was a narrow sidewalk on a steep cliff.
Between the valleys, black objects that seemed to be clouds were floating around; the atmosphere was rather scary.
'Hmm, so we have to go through this valley?'
According to the information given by Prettybbook, there was a certain 'spirit sanctuary' beyond the valley.
If they went there, one of the four grand spirits could be obtained.
'Hehe, it would be nice if I get a fire or wind spirit.'
Ian was already feeling glad about getting a new summon added to his family.
Ian and his party slowly stepped in, and the system messages began to emerge.
Tring-!
[Entered the 'Abyss Valley'.]
[Powerful gust will begin to blow.]
[The spirits with 'Abyss' attributes are more powerful now.]
[The attack magic of the 'Abyss' attributes are more powerful now.]
[Spirits with 'Abyss' attributes will be 50% faster.]
As the system messages indicated, strong gusts of wind started blowing in the valley.
Even in the Windy plains, there were winds that were blowing strong, but these ones were different in every way possible.
It was the first time for Sarah and Vanessa to have come to such a place, and they were speaking among themselves.
"Unnie, isn't the map too tricky in here?"
"Yeah. All the projectiles will be blocked away by the structure."
Except for the wide-area magic which would trigger based on the location, most of the wizard's attacks were non-target skills.
In other words, it was a way to drive out the projectile in the direction of the target.
On top of that, Vanessa's weapon was a bow which made it the worst kind of situation for the two sisters to fight in.
Also, the huge gusts of wind made it trickier for them to even think of fighting.
But unlike the twins who were concerned with how difficult the map was, Ian was interested in other things.
'Abyss attribute... Bbookbbook-ah might like this?'
As the name suggested, the valley was of an Abyss, and it supported rare Abyss types.
Even if that wasn't the case, if Bbookbbook used breath in there, a tremendous change could be brought to the team for sure.
While Ian was thinking about all of that, Ralph came toward him.
"Kay, you all need to be really careful from here."
As soon as Ralph said that, Ian asked, "Do you think the difficulty will be high?"
Ralph nodded with a serious expression.
"Yes. To the level where the windy plains would be nothing compared to this."
"Hm..."
"We'll give you the information first and then we'll move in."
Ralph began to talk about the Abyss Valley in a very clear tone.
There were three things that could sum up the information he had given.
First, there were two attributes of contaminated spirits that would come from the Abyss Valley.
"The spirits in the Abyss Valley have two attributes, and they are the 'Abyss' and 'Zion' attributes."
"Zion... is that an attribute name?"
"It's also my first time seeing that attribute. But the spirits with that attribute were very difficult to deal with."
"Why so?"
"They are basically powerful and a nasty vitality recovery."
"Hmm...?"
"So when a spirit with Zion attribute appears, it must be taken down unconditionally."
"I see."
"If we can't take down two or three monsters, then we won't be able to find the real answer."
Second, once the body touched the dark clouds floating around the Abyss Valley, it would be damaged by the Abyss attributes.
The clouds had a vitality of some kind. If it bursts, a magical explosion would occur.
"Watch out for the cloud. I don't know how, but when it bursts, it's game over."
"It's... that bad?"
"If you're that curious, then give it a try. You're a knight class user. I'm sure you can handle one."
"..."
Third, as soon as the beginning of the valley and the Abyss Gate was passed, the speed of the monsters would begin to increase.
"As soon as the gate is passed, the quest window will appear. You can check it out in full detail."
"Well, let's do that."
After the explanation of Ralph was over, Ian naturally moved to the front-end position of the party.
That was because the role Ian was playing right now was that of a 'knight' class.
'Well, a summoner knight is a knight, so...'
Ian smiled and stroked his shield.
In the Windy plains, Ian didn't use any other skills other than the unique abilities that were attached to the shield. But now, it looked like he had to use the other skills.
'Hide the blood split as much as possible. I'm going to have to use my self-defense in this situation.'
The self-defense that Ian was talking about was the alter ego of Ian, which was the Summon Incarnation, a unique ability of the Summoner Knight.
Currently, Ian was able to use Summon Incarnation, which would last for 5 minutes straight.
Checking the skills, Ian opened his mouth while lifting the Bloody Revenge that was in his hand.
"Kay, let's move in."
From that point, the attack of the Abyss Valley began.
* * *
Pang- Pang-!
The purple projectiles in the size of a fist were moving fast toward the party.
Most of them were getting blocked and destroyed by the shield of Ian.
['Shield block' has been successful!]
[Absorbed 95.12 percent of the damage of the 'Abyss Gun'!]
[Vitality reduced by 14!]
['Shield block' has been successful!]
[Absorbed 91.05 percent of the damage of the 'Abyss Gun'!]
[Vitality reduced by 17!]
['Wrath of the Dragon' unique ability has been triggered.]
[Attack damage has been increased by 0.5%.]
[Attack damage has been increased by 0.5%.]
The Abyss Valley, a narrow and long canyon.
It was narrow enough that it would be possible to reach the other side of the cliff if one tried hard.
And the role of Ian was much more important than ever.
Most of the spirits were in the front, and almost all the attacks were naturally headed to the forefront of the party.
The speed of the map would break down depending on how much damage Ian would take.
Muel got behind Ian and mumbled,
"Wah, because of you Ian, the difficulty seems to have been reduced by half."
Her words made Ian smile. He then asked,
"That so?"
"Yeah. When we came here together, it almost took us two to three hours to get to this very point."
"Then... you couldn't have done anything in that situation."
Ian was now blocking almost all the attacks; more than 90 percent of the damage was getting absorbed.
If they were in a situation where they didn't have a tank with them, Ralph would have been at the forefront, and he couldn't believe what was happening.
If the damage Ralph had taken was 100, Ian's damage was less than 10.
And the real thing was, the healer Muel couldn't resist herself from being grateful.
Unlike the last time where she had to heal until all her divine power was gone, this time it hadn't even been used.
Muel's divinity wasn't supposed to fall below 70 percent.
"Surely a tanker is needed at a party."
"Huhu, obviously."
Ian was happy seeing Muel all excited and bursting out.
However, Vanessa who listened to Ian and Muel's conversation couldn't help but feel absurd.
'Ha, that one isn't a tanker...'
Whatever it was, all thanks to Ian, the party's damage dealers were able to squeeze more damage forward.
Ian blocked all the incoming projectiles without leaving a single one out, so one damage dealer got a position close to a free deal.
And in the current party, there was one person who had no work to do.
"Chesk, right! Muel, provide a shield for Vanessa!"
The Warrior class Ralph, a short range dealer, had nothing to do but just order around.
"Kuek, Ralph hyung, you have nothing to do?"
"Yeah. Should we leave Ralph and take Ian in?"
"Shut up idiots!"
The party was moving into the valley with warm feelings.
But in a moment, a slight nervousness could be heard from the voice of Ralph.
"Zion on the right!"
"...!"
"Take down the Zion first!"
As the voice of Ralph came, Ian's gaze shifted to the right.
In there, unlike till now, was an unusual appearance in a white color.
'What? A snowman with wings?'
The appearance of the spirit was indeed cute.
It made Ian more nervous though.
Ralph said that the spirit attribute with Zion had to be given a lot of attention, and it was all because they could get neglected due to their appearance.
Shuk- shook-!
Archer Chesk and the arrows of Vanessa from her main weapon were rushing toward the spirit called Zion.
But despite hitting their arrows precisely, the vitality of the spirit Zion didn't buzz.
Wheeing-! Wheing-!
To be precise, its vitality regenerated at a wonderful speed.
And the next moment...
Woong-!
With the spirit that was flying in front of them, a white light began to settle.
Ralph yelled at Ian immediately after seeing that, "That must be stopped at any cost!"
Ian would have surely done that even without Ralph saying it out loud, but when he noticed the nervous tone in his voice, he observed the skill much closely.
'What is it? Is that a charging skill?'
And the next moment.
Kwkwkwkwa-!
From the very cute appearance of the Zion, strong light rays began to start emanating.
Papapang-!
And subsequently, system messages began to come in front of Ian's eyes.
['Shield block' has been done successfully!]
[Absorbed 91.12 percent of the 'Zion Beam'!]
[As an 'Abyss' attribute had been used, 4.8% of additional damage has been absorbed.]
[Vitality of 35 has been reduced!]
['Shield block' has been done successfully!]
[Absorbed 89.75 percent of the 'Zion Beam'!]
[As an 'Abyss' attribute has been used, 4.6% of additional damage has been absorbed.]
[Vitality of 17 has been reduced!]
[Party member 'Muel' has used 'Life of Light.]
[85 vitality has been restored.]
As Ian had anticipated, the Zion Beam was a charging skill, and a powerful damage came.
Poong-!
The charging was quickly cut off by other remote damage dealers, but apart from that, Ian was still very interested.
Because of the system message, he found another fact.
'Oh ho, the Zion attribute seems weaker than the Abyss?'
A shield made out of the shell of Bbookbbook, the Dragon Shield.
The nature of the shield was Abyss attribute, and it was learned from the system message.
And the reason why it was interesting for Ian was not something else.
It was because this was his first time to discover the affinity of the Abyss attributes which wasn't there till now.
