Chapter 443: Feel The Grace Of God

Every single one of Stephanie's beady spider eyes focused on Wilde as her face paled. "Who exactly are you?" she asked.

Wilde replied with a sinister chuckle, "The person about to dismember you and turn you into a specimen. In other words, the one who will become your master."

Meanwhile, Bella led Cherry away from Stephanie and the two hid in a corner.

Stephanie was now a flesh spider. She had the form of a spider, but her outer appearance was still human. Stephanie, who had been confident after devouring part of Sandalphon's power, now felt a little timid in the face of Wilde's immense strength.

She opened her mouth, her lower jaw widening, and a white substance spurted out from glands within her throat that turned into webbing the moment it left her mouth.

Wilde scoffed indifferently, and a blank ink-like gas, carrying with it the terrifying aura of death, slowly rose all across the room.

Thick, slippery tentacles appeared at the bottom of Charlotte's white dress in an instant. Wilde didn't bat an eyelid, but there was a mocking smile on his face. His upper body maintained the graceful beauty of a young noble lady, while his lower half was now all tentacles.

"Urghh," Cherry gagged as she watched from the corner. These two were monsters.

Wilde had indeed fulfilled his duty and protected Cherry according to Boss Lin's orders. It was just that Stephanie was way too weak in the face of the black magician, whereas Wilde had already awakened the domain of his 'Eventuality' Law.

In the history of mankind, transcendents that could comprehend their own power of Law could be counted with the fingers on one's hands. Wilde was one of them.

It would be too easy for him to kill Stephanie, but he wanted to see how much of Sandalphon's power she had absorbed; thus, Wilde actually went back and forth when fighting her. The gulf between the two of them was like a special forces soldier with a heavy arsenal facing off against a child wielding a small knife.

Webbing shot from Stephanie's body flew toward Wilde who raised his tentacles. But before the spider silk could touch him, it was all dissolved into liquid.

Stephanie was furious, but she gradually understood the strength of the person before her and vaguely guessed who that actually was...

"Don't tell me you're... black magician... Wilde?" Stephanie asked with a shaking voice.

"Oh?" Wilde was rather surprised. "You insect-like dark elves also know of my name?"

"The Broodmother mentioned you before. You are the Giant King's disciple." Stephanie backed away frightfully.

Stephanie herself was no small fry. She was a direct disciple of Sandalphon. As a creature that existed since the First Era, Sandalphon was actually on the same level as Giant King Augustus.

Wilde's hostility lessened slightly upon hearing his teacher's name.

Had it not been for teacher, I would have already been dead... Wilde sank into his memories of the indescribably great old being who guarded the abandoned Giant Kingdom at the fringes of the dream realm.

Wilde gently clenched his fist. He was no longer the child who couldn't even differentiate the correct medicine flask. He was now a black magician that wielded a Supreme-rank Law and could hold his head high when he went back to see his old teacher.

Wilde smiled, but raised a hand. "For the sake of my teacher, I'll grant you a quick death."

Stephanie screamed, and the ground ignited with black flames devoid of light. This substance that represented annihilation would devour Stephanie in the next second.

The huge flesh spider that was Stephanie fell to the ground struggling, revealing her paper-thin abdomen. One could clearly see that her swollen belly was crawling with tiny spiders.

In the end, Wilde still couldn't bear to kill her and let her head remain. Perhaps, that could make a greeting gift for his teacher.

Cherry, who was hiding behind a piece of cloth, puffed up her cheeks like a little pufferfish and softly complained to Bella, "Wilde is actually so powerful."

"Even those far away still know about the battle on 67th Avenue that will forever be recorded in Norzin's history," Bella said.

"What I mean is that Boss Lin gave him such a strong power," Cherry huffed.

"Maybe Boss Lin gave you the most suitable one because Miss isn't meant to fight battles. Boss Lin probably doesn't want you to encounter danger." Bella comforted her young mistress.

Cherry felt much better hearing that. Once the matter of the Village of Dark Night was resolved, she would be able to see Boss Lin again.

Haa, Wilde is rather reliable indeed... Cherry let out a sigh of relief. She patted the dust off her body and came out from her hiding spot. "Thank you, Mr. Wilde, it was great working with you," said Cherry, having regained her usual indifference.

Having just reminisced about his teacher, Wilde was in rather pleasant spirits and gave Cherry a little nod. Both of them were the bookstore owner's customers, working toward mutual benefit and getting along well.

Cherry was about to continue saying some pleasantries when Wilde's face changed all of a sudden.

"Wha..." Cherry intended to ask but was interrupted by a tentacle of Wilde's grabbing her by the waist and throwing her behind him. Before Cherry could even react, she crashed into the wall and landed on the ground, hitting her head as she cried out in pain.

She called to her feet and shouted, "Wilde, you! ... Bella!!!"

Before Cherry was done, she saw that over a dozen men in black cloaks had appeared, barging into the tavern and hacking at the spot where Cherry had been standing with huge swords clad in aether. Had Wilde not tossed her over, Cherry's tiny little body would have been cut in half.

Bella, on the other hand, hadn't been so fortunate. She was slashed in the back by these cloaked men. Her eyes were full of unwillingness as her life reached an end before she could react. And her last action seemed to be raising her arms in a bid to shield Cherry who had been beside her.

Thump!

Bella fell heavily to the floor.

"Bella!!!" Cherry's eyes were nearly bulging out from their sockets as she screamed at the top of her lungs for this servant that had been both a mother and a friend to her.

She lost her sense of rationality and tried to rush toward Bella's side, but Wilde's tentacles caught and tossed her behind once more.

"Who are you people?" Wilde asked with Charlotte's frowning face.

These men in black cloaks all had an aura that Wilde found familiar. And in their hands, all of these people had a book with three words engraved on its black cover—Dream of Chaos.

The aura emanating from this book was all too familiar to Wilde. This was... Boss Lin's book.

The leader of the robed men slowly took off his hood, revealing an extremely hideous face covered in snake-like scales. The man's lower jaw was full of waving tentacles laced with suction cups, with beast-like eyes and a completely bare head.

This gruesome appearance wasn't one a human ought to have. It was ancient and terrifying, hideous and ugly.

"The Church of Pestilence," Wilde raised eyebrows and said with certainty.

"It's you guys. You all came too late!" Stephanie was already in bits and barely alive because of the annihilative substances from Wilde's Law.

"Stone!" Stephanie shouted at the leader of the black robes. They all seemed to have names that were different from what those in Norzin had. "If you wish for the collaboration with the Village of Dark Night to continue and sell your Lower District ores, hurry up and kill these two!"

The leader of the black robes eyed Stephanie with disdain. Then, as if reciting a scripture, he said, "How ugly. Whether it's dark elves or humans, all of you are arrogant and conceited. And in the end, be abandoned by God."

Immediately after, the cloaked leader snapped his fingers. Stephanie's head, which was what remained of her, exploded, and milky white brain matter splattered everywhere.

"These people... are the Church of Pestilence from the Lower District that Stephanie wants to work with." Cherry found her usual calmness and analyzed the situation.

Wilde didn't stir. What puzzled him was the book in their hands.

"Respect the Lord!" The leader of the black cloaks didn't pay any attention to Wilde. He gently opened the book in his hand, Dream of Chaos, and recited aloud, "Let all things embrace the black abyss, just like your great dream realm... Don't wake up, and be embraced by the only God shrouded by gray fog."

'Stone' then looked up at Wilde, revealing an evil and twisted smile as he uttered, "Feel the grace of God."

Wilde was actually terrified when he heard the robed man's incantation. The power within his own body felt overdrawn in the next moment, and his other half, Charlotte, screamed out like a madman.
