Chapter 408: I...

Aerwyna's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. She couldn't fathom how an F-Grade warrior could possibly have telekinesis strong enough to rock someone off of their feet... let alone cause a result so devastating.

If not for the armor they wore, that sudden push would have completely obliterated his ribcage and minced all the organs beneath. However, while the shieldman survived relatively fine after a spurt of blood... the staff wielder he crashed into wasn't nearly so lucky.

The staff wielder had been holding their arm out. The sudden change bent their arm awkwardly and shattered several bones. But worse than that, the defense that the two shieldmen had been preparing together was disrupted.

Sylas crossed another ten meters before Aerwyna's aura suddenly blanketed a large space. He found that he couldn't use his telekinesis at a distance anymore, but he also noticed that Aerwyna's face became several shades paler as well.

That was fine, it was well within his expectations.

Ballista bolts began to appear from his Madness Key, appearing within their midst. He had stopped using these bolts in battle because his telekinesis power had already far surpassed their durability. The opponents he would need them for tended to have defenses too powerful to penetrate.

This proved to be true this time as well. But it hardly mattered. They were nothing more than a distraction.

The ballista bolts tore through the air, erupting in a rain of wooden shards every time they rebounded against an enemy. The Sylphs were forced back on impact, their Skills being disrupted and their bodies quaking beneath the impact. The air in their lungs felt as though it had been forcefully ripped out and suddenly, their blurring gazes could only see the yellow slit eyes looking back at them.

Sylas was already within five meters of them.

Aerwyna's bow vanished and she was already pulling out another weapon, but the bolts had slowed her down too and she was still a step too late.

Sylas appeared before the last standing shieldman as the second was still trying to pick himself up off of the ground.

His running gait came to a sudden stop and the balls of his feet shifted into a slide. His hips dropped and he unleashed a violent fist.

All at once, his weight increased by a measure and all his torque transferred to his black-scaled knuckles.

BANG! CRUNCH.

Sylas' fist tore through the shieldman's treasure and right into his chest, pulverizing his heart to nothingness.

He had already seen through it earlier. In order for this team to link their Skills like they did, it took more than just Aether control. Unless all of them had Rune Breath, it was simply impossible.

The only explanation, then, was that they relied on treasures to form the bridge between them. And in that case, they would be sacrificing something in exchange for that power.

Together, the defenses of the shieldmen were shocking. But alone...

They weren't even worth a single fist.

Sylas retracted his fist, his tail whipping out to the side. Tail Whip activated and it suddenly accelerated in the air.

Just as the last archer was about to block, he activated <Momentum Shift> and pulled on his Gluttony Seed hard. <Momentum Shift> had a limit of a mere 200 Physical. However, when Sylas used it in conjunction with his Gluttony Seed, although he couldn't allow the same abrupt change in momentum, he could make it a sharper change than this woman was able to react to.

BANG!

His tail collapsed her knees in the wrong direction, a scream of horror coming out from her lips.

Sylas didn't follow up, using the momentum of his tail swing to sway his body out of the way of an oncoming projectile. He caught the shieldman with a hole in his chest with a hand and suddenly tossed him forward.

The man erupted into a rain of ash, obscuring their vision as Sylas levied another attack from their midst.

BANG!

He stomped down a foot and the head of the Sylph woman with broken knees shattered.

BANG!

An elbow collapsed the neck of the last shieldman just as he barely managed to get up.

BANG!

His fist followed up in a combo, ripping a hole right through the gut of the staff wielder he had fallen on. Beaten and broken, she couldn't even react before the life began to dim from her gaze.

Sylas was on a complete rampage, his attacks violent and unforgiving. Blood that was not his own coated him from head to toe, flowing through the crevices of his scales as though his own flesh itself was greedily absorbing it.

His Madness descended in full force on the last outside of Aerwyna. By this point, their Will was already teetering on an edge, they simply weren't prepared for a second Mental attack to suddenly crush their psyche like this...

So when it did and they coughed up a mouthful of blood, about to be transported out, they couldn't react at all to the fist that shattered their face.

Too fast, too lethal. Sylas seemed to have just stepped into their midst, and in the next instant they were entirely wiped out.

Aerwyna's eyes bulged with the shock and horror of it all, the sword she had finally managed to pull out trembling in her hands slightly.

Sylas took a step and slowed, the violent torque his body had been generating slowing to the dull hum of an engine.

Aerwyna suddenly tightened her grip on her sword, her feelings of unwillingness and the unfairness of it all weighing down upon her with a heavy hand.

Suddenly, she calmed, her gaze landing on Sylas with an unwilling glint within them.

Then, she did something Sylas didn't quite understand.

"I concede."

After she said these words, she vanished.

Sylas couldn't help but frown. He didn't know that that was possible. Was she speaking to him? Or the system? If they could all concede, did Vayu just let his rage get the best of him? Or was it something else?

The howling winds whipped about, leaving Sylas the lone victor remaining.
