Chapter 3600: Ghost Tear Hall's Unbound Legacy Treasure

"..."

Davis waited as he was told to wait until the outburst of the Deathly Madness Sickness momentarily subsided. It seems that the Second Ancestor was going to recover temporarily and meet and talk to him personally.

He guessed that it would be fine as long as the Second Ancestor doesn't drop dead in front of him.

"Are you curious?"

Suddenly, the person at the north point of the round table suddenly asked him.

Davis imagined that he was the First Ancestor. He had to lean his head towards the side in order to look at him since the Legacy Artifact was blocking his view and he saw a pale-skinned young man.

He wore black robes and it seemed pretty decayed as though he had never taken a bath for hundred of years yet his skin shone pale flawlessly.

"With such menacing pressure, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't interested. Let me guess, this was made by your sect's Founder?"

"You're right."

The young man's voice was amicable, "I'm sure you heard that the Ghost Tear Hall possesses three Legacy Artifacts, but in reality, we only possess these two."

Davis saw the Ghost Mourning Amulet and the Soulbound Shadow Lantern appear.

He recognized these treasures since the Ghost Tear Hall took it out to battle with other three great assassination sects due to him wrecking their branches but it never came about as though they agreed to overlook his transgressions.

However, the fact that they contacted Kronos Alistair to assassinate him made him understand that it was only a farce needed to keep the status quo going for a bit longer. This was especially true for the Oracular Reaver Abode. However, Davis was too busy to retaliate.

As long as the Oracular Reaver Abode kept quiet, he was willing to ignore their presence like he was ignoring an ant.

Nonetheless, Davis nodded, "Then what about this one?"

Everyone looked at the terrifying obsidian metallic eye.

"As for this one over here, we are incapable of winning over its soul."

"However, we are not troubled since the Ghost Mourning Amulet is a replica of this monstrosity, although with our forge skills and out of respect, we could only imbue it into an amulet. Its prowess isn't as great as the original, but it works well for our needs, remaining as powerful as the Soulbound Shadow Lantern."

"That's right."

The Third Ancestor trembled. His old, wrinkled body was shivering like a leaf amidst the wind even though there was none, "The reason why the Extinguished Fissure Mini Realm can remain impregnable was due to this lovely eye. As long as an unidentified individual entered, they would find themselves frozen from the feat of death before it reaps their souls like nothing happened."

"There were records of righteous heroes and heavenly geniuses having fallen to it." The Fourth Ancestor added as he praised.

"..."

Davis wryly smiled. Whose side should he be on?

He was sure the righteous side tried to eradicate assassination sects for a just cause but never succeeded. Not all righteous causes were seething with hypocrisy, after all.

If heavenly geniuses were willing to come here, it must've been for fame or justice. Otherwise, he couldn't see why they would bother losing their bright futures over it.

"To train my Soul-Devouring Doom Eyes, I had to stare at it for a period of time every day, getting my eyes bled until dawn or even until a month, but you-"

Master Deathseeker shook his head, causing Davis's lips to curl.

The former's utterance caught everyone's attention as they felt it really must be true. His death energy's purity was so high that he wasn't impeded by any sort of flaws whatsoever. This made them, the arch-priests of death, embarrassed.

They had wholeheartedly immersed themselves in the Upanishads of Death Laws, yet they couldn't even teach half his height.

"What do you think about this powerful Legacy Artifact? Do you think you can subdue it?"

The First Ancestor's amicable voice fell but hidden behind it was many layers of meaning which caused all other Ancestors to narrow their eyes at Davis.

"If I managed to subdue it, can I take it for myself?"

Davis smiled as though he was going to bite the offer.

His words caused the Ancestors to raise their brows, their gazes measuring him up.

It must be known that the Founder's Legacy Artifact never chose a successor as though it was completely loyal to its creator.

Although it could talk, it had never explained itself either, so they were intrigued if Davis could really do the impossible.

Considering he was an Anarchic Divergent with control over both life and death, they guessed that he had a high chance of subduing it, but history said otherwise.

"Well," The First Ancestor spoke up, "It has never went out and neither has moved to kill of its own volition unless something happened like someone breaking a high-level contract or entering this light-forbidden mini realm of ours. Otherwise, the Ghost Mourning Amulet will take care of it. Still, even if you managed to subdue it we can't just give away our Founder's Legacy Artifact just like that."

"Why not? He's my number one disciple, so he's already a part of the next heir- no, he's the next Patriarch."

"If I became the Patriarch—" Davis suddenly raised his voice, interrupting Master Deathseeker, "The Ghost Tear Hall's doctrine for assassinations wouldn't be the same."

"..."

"Everyone must know what I'm like, so I would rather not associate with the Ghost Tear Hall that assassinates innocent in exchange for wealth. However, Master Deathseeker would always be my master, so if he is in trouble, I will race up to him as long as even one arm of mine is free. Naturally, I owe the Ghost Tear Hall for aiding me during tough times, so I would reach out my hand whenever I can."

"..."

The Ghost Tear Hall's Ancestors didn't burst out with anger, nor did they point their fingers at him. They were calmly looking at him, making Davis smirk.

Practicing Death Laws sure did make them emotionless. He could feel they were circulating their death energy right now to soothe their irritated hearts.

"..."

Master Deathseeker stared at Davis with frustration.

His disciple was even more stubborn and hardheaded when it came to the way of doing things. He had already started changing his ways since he knew he was wrong but never had the need to change until his disciple appeared like a Saint of Life and Death.

It made him realize that sowing death wasn't necessarily the only way to reap Death Laws.

That was still awe-inspiring for him, allowing him to change or at least start changing as he stopped taking missions that would target innocents.

However, the same couldn't be said about the entirety of the sect.

Each and every one of the disciples was deep in darkness or even the abyss, never to see the light. They would rather commit suicide than do good.

Therefore, he knew for a fact this was not going to work out.

"Forget it." Master Deathseeker shrugged, "The Ghost Tear Hall should also have a main branch in the First Haven World. My disciple, if you need any help and one of us is there to receive your distress signal, we will race to you."

"Deathseeker, the Ghost Tear Hall in the true immortal world, wouldn't be as easygoing as me. If you move out of line like you do with us, they will slaughter you without looking at who you are unless you prove yourself."

Abruptly, the Second Ancestor walked in from the shadows of the pathways.

His countenance was sickly pale, and he barely walked, moving slowly like a turtle, yet none went to help him.

"Heh~"

Master Deathseeker scoffed. If only excluded Davis, only a few individuals came close to him in the history of the Ghost Tear Hall's Death Heir. He didn't believe he lost out and then again, his disciple's usage of death energy was extremely pure.

If he was able to see through its intricacies, then his death energy would soar again!

Besides, his death energy was already better than anyone in the Ghost Tear Hall since he absorbed the minute amount of Death Essence Orb his disciple gave him. Ever since he absorbed that, he didn't even see a sign of the Deathly Madness Sickness appearing in him, although he guessed that the period had increased to a long time and would eventually show itself.

Their Ghost Tear Hall's main death-attributed cultivation manual was still flawed in some ways, after all. Until one could settle those errors, Master Deathseeker doubted he would be able to do something.

"Alright, take us to some silent area. Master Deathseeker will accompany us."

"Why so hasty?"

The Second Ancestor laughed creepily, "I still have some days left in me. I get it that you're a man of your word, but don't you realize that such meaningless words could end up getting you entrapped and fall one day?"

"For example, if we had the power to use the Founder's Legacy Artifact and kill you in order to learn your secrets, would you-"

"You're not worthy."

Davis's cold words fell, causing the atmosphere to chill.

Even the Legacy Treasure suddenly hovered straight, glaring at Davis.

Davis didn't hesitate to return the glare, "As far as I can tell, this dumb treasure wouldn't even be able to beat the Time Divergent, much less me."

"Let's go." He inclined his head and walked towards the wall.

He passed through the wall as though he knew the layout, causing the Ancestors' hearts to shudder. He could traverse the mist of death well despite the Deathseeker's token having no power here. What did they honestly expect to happen?
