Chapter 3580: Time Divergent
*Whoosh!~*
Davis chased after the Time Divergent.
He crossed mountains and even a few rivers in two seconds, closing half the distance between him and the Time Divergent.
However, it happened again.
The Time Divergent just teleported out of nowhere, leaving behind a trace of jade-black temporal energy around Davis.
'So he has a massive range for stopping time... that's incredulous...'
Davis's gaze shook.
Many would've been in awe over seeing his usage of life and death energy, annihilative heavenly lightning and flames and other unique energies but this was one of the rare moments where he was awestruck by the opponent's power.
His perception couldn't even pick up the slightest change in the atmosphere before jade-black energy abruptly enveloped him and burst out, expanding with him as the center as time overwhelmed him and sealed his senses- no, suspended the passage of time entirely.
Even though time had supposedly stopped, Davis's focus grew to the extreme.
He didn't see the Time Divergent but glared at his reincarnation spear.
He had thrown the reincarnation spear again at the Time Divergent in the distance like he was throwing a javelin.
However, as soon as the javelin left his grasp, it was stuck in the air, yet Davis could still see a minute movement from the reincarnation spear piercing forward. Its powers seemed to be barely capable of resisting the mysterious temporal attack, allowing Davis to see what was going on.
The movement of the reincarnation spear didn't appear to completely stop as he had expected.
*Shh!~*
The reincarnation spear continued moving forward, but the Time Divergent had already moved far away in another direction, completely eluding the reincarnation's spear trajectory and range.
'No... this is not time stop... but it is quite close...'
Davis narrowed his eyes.
When the temporal attack came, the time slowed down to an extreme. Only 0.000000001 seconds during that time but when five seconds was over in real time, time continued at an extremely fast rate in that instant, reaching the remaining 4.999999999 seconds in a nano second while keeping the state of energy inside the range of the temporal attack suppressed, which meant a suppression of senses and movement on all things.
'This is where the darkness energy's quagmire came from...'
Davis instantly understood. His connection with the main body that was out of the temporal attack helped him notice the time that had elapsed during the time everything within the temporal attack was unable to move.
Perhaps, the Time Divergent could really can stop time but he wasn't as powerful as the World Master itself to interfere in her world and neither the Three-Layered Universe. Perhaps he could completely stop time if he had entered the Empyrean Stage or higher!
'No wonder he had been able to escape from pursuits and hunting parties, managing to survive somehow...'
Davis was honestly astonished.
This power alone allowed the Time Divergent to be able to escape because it even caught him in its strange prowess despite its energy being unable to harm him. Otherwise, the Time Divergent would've practically stayed in order to slay the Divine Emperor of Death and make a name for himself.
After all, Davis sensed that Time Divergent's cultivation was at Level One Immortal Emperor Stage, and his maximum prowess using Time Laws and Darkness Laws showed that jade-black temporal energy was at six levels higher.
This prowess matched with his Solitary Soul Avatar who was eleven levels higher in prowess. However, the other party shouldn't know that he was a Solitary Soul Avatar.
Currently, both of them could reach the Level Six Immortal Emperor Stage in prowess, yet the Time Divergent refused to even fight or take a look at him.
'Perhaps he did take a look when he froze time, but... why is he fleeing at top speed as though he knows he will definitely lose, or did something come up...?'
Davis wondered if the Time Divergent was actually sane or calculative enough to avoid him, knowing he fell the entire Fire Phoenix Clan.
However, the Time Divergent was also an individual who sank a major power by himself and Davis definitely knew a prowess reaching Level Six Immortal Emperor Stage was barely enough to destroy a power like that, making him guess everything was thanks to the power of time stop that allowed him to cleanly assassinate them while they were stuck in time and darkness, unable to extricate themselves or see clearly as to what had happened.
Thinking all of this, Davis didn't want to lose pursuit more and more.
With the reincarnation spear dispersing with a wave of his hand, he quickly used his concealing arts and followed after the Time Divergent.
Mira wasn't with him. He had left her with Nyoran in case anything might happen to her. As for Mira, he wasn't worried about her as she could stomp the entire Ghostly Crow Clan by herself anyway.
With things taken care of, Davis chased the Time Divergent all the way.
His speed was slightly reduced due to the concealment, but he was still faster than the Time Divergent, which allowed him to catch up in twenty seconds.
He slightly moved past the Time Divergent and took notice of his expression. It wasn't grinning from ear to ear as he had expected but cemented a solemn expression as though he had yet to escape from his grasp, even looking around vaguely.
'Is he still cautious of my pursuit...?'
Davis couldn't believe how cautious this Divergent was.
He had fled so far away, gaining enough distance to elude pursuit, but was still cautious of him as though he knew how he moved, which made Davis think that the Time Divergent had researched about him greatly.
Nonetheless, Davis wondered how he should dispose of this dangerous Divergent who seemed to avoid him when he clearly was not afraid of a major power.
He wondered if he should seal his powers using the chains he stole from the Divine Inquisitors of the Reincarnation Dimension.
'Nah, I shouldn't be using such a trump card on some time controlling menace who could probably slip through the chain and end up knowing that I have a trump card like that and even spreading it...'
Besides, the chain was with his main body, so it would take time for him to appear.
However, Davis couldn't wait. He wanted to make his move now since the other party was evidently in the know about him, not to mention Davis also wanted his soul since it contained the secrets of time, the insights of Time Laws that he wanted and probably even Jade Aurora.
It was also important to his survival if he really thought about it.
He held his breath, his pupils dilating as he entered a state of utmost focus. Reaching out his hand to the air, a deathly scythe manifested in his grasp, completely silent and ghastly as he descended on the Time Divergent like a reaper.
'Your soul is mine...'
Davis suppressed the greed in his heart to elude the Time Divergent's instincts and sliced him from head to toe with the deathly scythe made up of his soul force.
Without any accidents, the curved blade of the scythe cut through the Time Divergent's head but as soon it sank, time stopped!
*Break!~*
At that moment, Davis exploded with his entire soul as a reincarnation wheel manifested behind him before a otherworldly deathly wolf appeared and roared at the Time Divergent, wasting a ton of soul force to overpower the stoppage of time and sink his scythe further, causing the Time Divergent's eyes to turn wide in visible shock.
*Rip!~*
The scythe sank all the way to the neck despite the suspension of time, cleaving the Time Divergent's soul sea into two.
At that moment, Davis knew the Time Divergent was deader than dead.
The Time Divergent stared at Davis with shock, the light in his eyes dying before he felt everything inside him turn to darkness.
"Ahahahaha!"
He roared out in a sick cacophony of laughter before he suddenly caught himself out of place, "Ha!?"
Numerous Immortal Emperors where churning their attacks against him when he also had just slowed down time, disallowing their attacks to fall on him.
Despite the danger encroaching on him, he didn't seem to mind and raised his hand to touch his forehead, feeling a stinging pain cleave his head and soul, but he knew that the pain was nothing but an illusion.
He trembled, "Fuck!"
Turning to look at the main castle of the Ghastly Crow Clan, he spotted the person in question and matched gazes with him, his eyes evoking a sense of fear within him.
'This bastard... the Divine Emperor of Death... killed me again...!'
