Chapter 3559: Planning To Seclude
Davis didn't think Nightveil was illiterate. After all, she was not a wild spirit.
She originally belonged to her Dynastic Evernight Phantasm Spirit Tribe in the Grand Beginnings Continent, which was massacred by Light-Attributed Spirits. She had been an outcast ever since until she encountered the Dynastic Evernight Phantasm Spirit Tribe in the First Haven World and rejoined. She even entered the Aurora Cloud Gate until she decided to enter Mingzhi's life because of the debt she owed him for helping her twice.
Although he didn't doubt her ability to learn, he definitely didn't expect her to be taking up studies of intelligence gathering and legalism that he felt it wouldn't be strange if Mingzhi forced her into this.
"Are you sure you want to be studying these scrolls, Nightveil?"
Davis couldn't help but ask as he wanted to make sure Nightveil was willing.
"Ah, yes." Nightveil wryly smiled, "Part of it is to help Mingzhi maintain Black Claymore as she needs additional hands, and the other part is for me. As a darkness spirit, I feel like I would be wasting my potential if I don't learn a thing or two about intelligence gathering and legalism to make sense of what I'm looking at since the laws of spirits and humans are quite different."
"..."
Davis didn't buy it as he glanced at Mingzhi and saw her display the brightest smile possible. After all, there was no need for Nightveil to learn about legalism or family laws, but her words sounded reasonable to him, so he didn't say anything.
Besides, it was true that his Mingzhi was working hard to bring information to their home so they could stay afloat.
Even now, according to Black Claymore's latest information, all the powers that were at his city gates had scrammed back to their respective powers after the strange spacequakes rocked the entire First Haven World.
The world was still in uproar over this matter, some rumors stating him, the Divine Emperor of Death, as a reason, but with no evidence to back these accusations, none of them could do anything about it. Of course, people to not tend to care about evidence and attacked straight away but those were only reserved for weak or vulnerable people.
He, Davis Loret, was the strongest Immortal King to ever exist in their minds. He even took down the Fire Phoenix Clan singlehandedly, so nobody wanted to do anything with him.
But fed with the information, Davis or even his family was able to place defenses accordingly, so he understood the importance of Black Claymore.
"Alright, keep it up and be useful to my Mingzhi. I will consider that your debt has been cleared in ten years."
"..." Nightveil blinked, "That's all?"
"That's all. No going back and forth."
"Understood~" Nightveil smiled sexily.
It seemed like she finally saw a point where she could repay the debt she owed to him. That was the whole point she was here, but due to her conviction, she was unable to talk to him as she felt like she would be shameless if she were to talk deals instead of doing her utmost for him. Now, turning to look at Mingzhi, she found herself entranced.
Her new physique was utterly enchanting to her, and she imagined that she might find herself evolving into a Heaven-Tier Spirit sooner or later.
"Mingzhi, take some rest."
"That's right-"Mingzhi slapped her forehead, "Everyone is going to seclude themselves from midnight or dawn, and I haven't announced the family laws yet as we had delayed it time and time again, but tonight, we'll do it, so you better not sleep with one of my sisters and fail to appear. Also be ready with your ten commandments."
"... Right."
Davis's brows twitched. He hadn't even thought of half of those commandments yet.
Besides, he couldn't understand why they would even need laws considering they were going to vagrants for a long period after entering the true immortal world, fighting for their lives.
However, knowing Mingzhi had spent much time to come up with these laws, he acquiesced. Also have a semblance of law at anarchic times was also good.
Nonetheless, he waved goodbye to Mingzhi and Nightveil.
Nightveil also waved back at him, causing him to look at her relieved countenance. It was unknown how long she was carrying this burden needlessly that it made him think of some other people who might be feeling the same debt towards him.
"Oh yeah-"Davis suddenly remembered. He turned to look at Mingzhi.
"Send word to Nyoran. Have her visit me in three days, or tell her I'll pay a visit to her Ghostly Crow Clan myself."
Mingzhi blinked, "That sounds like a threat."
"It's not."
Davis just shook his head, not explaining more.
'I need to know if I can enter the Nether Dimension with her and figure out how many of these special spaces are out there...'
Encountering people from the Reincarnation Dimension left Davis wondering how many Dimensions were out there.
As far as his knowledge expanded, he knew of the Nether Dimension from Nyoran and the Phantom Gaze Cobra's account. The latter told him there could be a group of Nether Springs Death Wolfs living there.
And if the Nether Springs Death Wolf that had gone extinct in the living realm were truly living there, then it might mean he could possibly lose pursuit if he entered the Nether Dimension.
As Mingzhi and Nightveil was learning, intelligence gathering was of foremost importance. As long as he had enough information, he could use it to his advantage and survive better, so he once again like to talk to Nyoran about this matter.
"You... you seem different..." Suddenly, Nightveil uttered at Davis.
Her hesitant voice caused him to look at her cheeks, which carried a light blush.
*Bzzz!~*
"Of course..." Davis smiled, abruptly releasing his soul undulations.
"...!"
Nightveil froze.
Her reaction was delightful, causing Davis to retract his aura back and leave Mingzhi's chamber.
After the door closed, Nightveil looked dumbfounded.
"Is that the same Davis, you know? How come his aura makes me think he is a supreme ruler of some kind even though he doesn't possess Emperor-Tier aura?"
"Oh, he is the same alright although his soul had undergone a majestic change once again." Mingzhi uttered dreamily.
"..."
Nightveil couldn't believe it.
It made her wonder just how a human could continue to grow so powerful that it put Heaven-Tier Spirits to shame.
Davis walked in the hallway aimlessly, looking to get picked up by one of his woman as this was likely the last day he could get to hang out with them while the remaining days would most likely be spent on cultivation and comprehension of Laws.
He didn't know who to meet as he wanted to meet and spend time with everyone.
However, he found himself walking towards Myria's chamber, causing him to knock on it and enter.
"Hey~"
Myria raised her hand and greeted Davis with a light smile. She was on a cultivation cushion in her hall, appearing to be meditating.
"Did I disturb you?"
"Not at all." Myria waved her hand, summoning a cultivation cushion opposite to her, "I was expecting you since I want to ask something. Do you still remember them?"
Davis raised his brows.
In fact, he still felt worried about their eventual reappearance and wanted to talk with Myria about it. She had escaped this time, but next time, it may not go smoothly although nothing was smooth about that.
"Yes." He sat down in front of her, sitting cross-legged.
Myria nodded, "Most of our family members who have seen them seem to have already forgotten about their visit. Becoming suspicious, I asked the Void Dust Empress, and she seemed to be able to barely remember what took place there in Saintess Lunaria's floating palace."
Davis narrowed his brows, "That's strange. I clearly remember the three Divine Inquisitors... even now... it's still fresh in my memories, and I don't think I will ever forget them..."
"Same here," Myria uttered. However, her voice was grave, and her expression was solemn, "But I think I will eventually forget them as some parts are starting to fade."
"..." Davis appeared stumped as he appeared to be considering.
"Is it because my reincarnation soul shares a unique connection to the Reincarnation Dimension? I mean, an artifact stemming from there doesn't even work on me as far as I could tell, so they failed to capture me..."
"I think so too." Myria nodded, "Our souls have changed to a point where it is somehow inexplicably connected with the Reincarnation Dimension. However, I have not reached your level in terms of prowess, and I don't think that's the problem. It has to do with your soul being innately reincarnation-attributed. Otherwise-"
Myria suddenly stopped, appearing to carefully consider her words, but Davis straightened his gaze and opened his mouth.
"Myria, why have you not asked about my so-called true origin despite that doubt being thrown at your face multiple times?"
"..."
