Chapter 328: Stealing the Light

Chapter 328: Stealing the Light

Angel.

Officially called the Sun God's servant, she was really more like the Sun God's weapon.

This angel was the first to be chosen for the Sun God Earth Destruction Project.

Her role, orchestrated by the gods, was to blend into human society as an angel, lull them into thinking they were on the same side, and then betray them at the last moment.

And it is Celeste who is tasked with manipulating the angel to do just that.

Or, more accurately, she runs to her when she sees her coming, and she follows her. And it was at that moment that Celeste realized once and for all that she was approved by the Sun God.

And so the angel became Celeste's loyal servant and bio-weapon, working to destroy the world.

Well, it's all meaningless.

Because I'm here.

"....."

Whirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

A wide field, light piercing the sky, people all around and a transparent barrier separating them from the rest of the world, surrounded by a soundless mist of five colors.

Silently, I looked up at the angel before me.

"....."

With eyes and mouth closed, clad only in a thin white robe, the angel floated in the air on large feathered wings.

She didn't have a halo on her head, but her shining blonde hair and mystical aura made it clear that she was an angel.

'She looks so frighteningly divine.'

I thought to myself as I looked at her.

I could almost feel the same awe I feel when looking at a beautiful statue.

She reminded me of Stardus in a strange way, especially with her shiny blonde hair.

'Well, no wonder.'

I thought to myself as I looked at the angel.

After all, this angel itself was created in imitation of Stardus.

...or, more accurately, the devotees of the Star God. The blond hair was also intended to be a target. The result is disguising this angel as if it were sent by the Star God, a truly devious method.

Anyway, since Sun God modeled her after the child of the Star God, shouldn't I be the one to take this angel, the son of the Star God? Hmm, the more I think about it, the more convincing the argument.

Well, then, I'll eat it.

"Hmmm."

Just like that I reached out toward the angel.

I placed my hand where her heart was, and began to murmur quietly.

"Potius quam ut nuntiam dei Solis iubeas, ego vim eius repetam et eam- que potestatem."

I did so, silently reciting the prepared words.

At that moment, from the place where my hand touched hers, an intense white light began to emanate, then, a sudden gust of wind but undeterred, I continued to open my mouth and began to speak.

Angel, a servant of the Sun God, is, in other words, a bio-eradication program in human form.

And as is typical of such programs, there's a master code that the creators have written, just in case.

Of course, I know what this code is. I'm not sure what it means, but it doesn't matter because I've memorized it anyway.

"Sol omnipotens Deus. Obsecro hercle vocationem. Reducet eam in viam rectam."

As I chanted the mysterious incantation, the light and wind grew stronger and stronger, and the speed at which I chanted continued to increase.

And so, at the last moment.

"Dominium accipiam!"

I shouted, the very last word of the spell and just like that, for a moment, the wind stopped, and then with a tremendous roar, a blindingly intense light exploded from within.

When I finally opened my eyes, the world was white all around me.

The transparent barrier around me shattered like a pane of glass.

All of the rainbow-colored clouds rose up into the sky and finally, high in the sky again, I could see the angel, wings spread wide, eyes slowly opening.

Mysterious golden eyes, the same color as her hair, hidden beneath long lashes, finally opened.

The angel floated in the sky for a long time, and only after it finally opened its eyes did it descend back to earth for the first time.

Her bare feet touched the earth's soil and she came to her senses for the first time.

The first time she saw me standing before her, the first time she looked up at me in front of so many people, the first thing she said was.

"Master...?"

And seeing the angel, with those piercing yet innocent golden eyes, shaking her head and saying so, I nodded, silently.

Okay, that went perfectly according to plan.

This angel is mine now.

"....."

"....."

"....."

For the record, everyone who overheard our entire series of conversations because the barrier was broken has a puzzled look on their face. Yeah. It must be embarrassing to have an angel descend divinely from the sky with all sorts of effects and see a villain and say, "Master."

Anyway, the angel stepped on the ground.

"Ugh..."

For a moment, she staggered, holding her head.

Her eyes closed again, and she blacked out but just as she was about to collapse, I moved quickly to catch her.

"Whew..."

Supporting her from behind, I sighed and looked up.

All around me, people had fallen to the ground from the explosion of light.

The people surrounding me had their eyes wide with disbelief that an angel was in my arms.

"...God's messenger!"

Some of them even pointed their fingers at me and said in a shaky voice.

I waved lazily at them, coughed for a moment, and then smiled.

"Hmph. Are you guys surprised? The gods must have given me some company. It's no big deal, so I hope you can all relax and get on with your lives."

I said naturally, and looked around, chuckling to myself for a complete show.

Then I locked eyes with Stardus, who was standing a little far from me and looking at me with confused eyes.

"..."

"....."

After three breathtaking seconds of silence, before something happened, I quickly threw the last word out, wrapping my cloak around me and Angel.

"Eh..."

"Then, goodbye!"

I quickly teleported away, out of there.

I used up too much energy getting the angel out and I couldn't take on Stardus...

Just like that, the day's Angelic Descent event ended with me waking the angel and taking her away.

Of course, the country was in an uproar again.

...and the world.

Ever since Egostic took the fallen angel in Korea the world has been in chaos.

You might be thinking, what's wrong with an angel in the first place, but that's another story.

The video of the angel's descent itself has gone viral.

The problem is, it looked so divine.

It was a holy sight that made the hairs on my back stand up just watching the video on my phone.

While many experts said that it was not manipulated, people were debating whether it was a show or a real angel descending from heaven.

In fact, in the original story, after the angel's descent, people who didn't believe in God became believers... It's not surprising considering the cataclysmic upheaval of many religions around the world.

But the difference between the original and this is.

Instead of Celeste, the world's #1 villain, who is obviously related to Sun God taking the angel, she was taken by a man named Egostic, a villain from a small country in the East, Korea.

And so, the man at the center of the world's news, Egostic.

"Hmph...This is going according to plan."

Without thinking, I was lying on the couch, eating a banana.

And there, in front of the living room window, stood a silent angel.

"...Hey, how are you?"

"Yes. Good morning."

"No...are you a real angel?"

"Yes."

"Uh..."

Just like that, the members of Egostream were walking up to her, looking at her curiously.

Seo-Eun looked at me, who was lying calmly on the couch, with a look of incomprehension in her eyes.

"Da-in, it's nice of you to bring that angel sister over, but isn't there something else you should be doing, instead of lying here?"

"Uh."

I nodded in response.

Anyway...

"They're going to call me first."

I looked at my phone on my desk and smirked.

Celeste.

I could bet my right hand that she'd get back to me in three days.

And at that time.

"Egostic...ignored me again..."

Stardus muttered, slumped over, with her head on her desk.

Rather than being concerned about the angel, she was hurt because Egostic had ignored her again...
