No matter what the legend was, how much the method of calling rain had changed, one thing was certain—the Rain tribe people were very realistic.

No matter what lies you made, as long as you could make a difference, they would believe you firmly and strictly. Otherwise, even if you sacrificed more, but did not achieve the results they wanted, they would give you a cruel treatment.

How high you used to be, but then you would be pulled down and step into the fire. Take Yang Sui as an example.

Compared to the Flaming Horns tribe, the Rain tribe's Shaman's status was really low. However, every Shaman was different. If the Flaming Horns tribe also has such a shaman like the Rain tribe's, it would now definitely be in a similar situation as the Rain tribe.

Shao Xuan thought that it still depended on the people.

Probably thinking that he did not have two days to live, Yang Sui didn't mince on his words. In many cases, he could not say these to the people inside the tribe since it sounded too rebellious. But saying it to the people outside the tribe was different. That was because the people outside the tribe did not recognize the customs of other tribes. Yang Sui had no scruples and vented his grievances out of the way.

There was silence for a moment, then Yang Sui squinted his eyes, swinging the tail on his hand, as he sang with his hoarse voice, "Jade-white silk rain, sand yellow muddy road ... God of heaven, the rain is a cloak ... I ask you ... "

This was a song that many people in the Rain tribe could sing.

Since when did you find it hard to ask for rain? How long has the time gone?

Hundreds of years? A millennium? Or was it too far to remember?

"Jade-white silk rain, sand yellow muddy road, what is the scene? I really want to see you," said Yang Sui.

The records left by the ancestors were not complete, but the songs handed down from generation to generation were known by everyone. Unfortunately, this song depicted exactly what a scene no one could imagine. No one knows because the people who knew were already gone.

"I heard that when calling for rain was a success, the rain falls down all over the ground into line, becoming slime. People walk barefoot on the wet mud and enjoy the falling rain," Yang Sui continued.

Slime was not a derogatory word for the Rain tribe people. "Sludge" and "mud" were a thing to look forward to because, in most of their memories, the ground was cracked and hard.

Same as yesterday, Shao Xuan saw the girl called Mi Fu come over, on her face was a concealed anger. Probably not expecting to see Shao Xuan here, her surprise flashed on her face, but she gave him no more attention, and instead, looked at Yang Sui sitting on the ground.

"Two more quit! Those bastards!" Mi Fu seemed very agitated.

Yang Sui tightened his hand on the ox's tail, then calmly said, "If they don't want to do it, then let them. Then, see who is willing to fill in the gaps. Those who are willing to fill the vacancy, double the pay."

"What's the use!" Mi Fu roared, "He Chao has taken them away directly by giving them money! Do you think when you give money, he can't give it too?! Yesterday, I went to find one as it was rare to find a vacancy. Now, that one was also gone! Who else can I find? Who knows if anyone else will leave today!"

The He Chao Mi Fu spoke of was originally Yang Sui's competitor for the Shaman position, but it was Yang Sui who won the podition. Now, the new chief supported this He Chao, trying to suppress Yang Sui.Day by day, they were making the supporters of Yang Sui quickly reduce. Yesterday, Yang Sui also said that the other side has more than half to his half supporters, and after another day, another half was gone.

They were probably thinking that when Yang Sui, the current Shaman, could not ask for rain, even the supporters with him would suffer.

Some people were still following him because of those supporters behind Yang Sui. But now, a bunch of supporters, under He Chao and the chief, stood on the other side's camp. Naturally, there were also shaman candidates who have changed their position.

According to the requirements of the ritual, eight shaman candidates were indispensable. But now, they could not find the right person to fill it up.

If they couldn't make up for it, that meant they couldn't even call for rain, then they fail directly.

This was the rule set by the ancestors which could not be changed.

Do you want to change it? Ok, if you can ask for rain, then the Rain Tribe's people would certainly not oppose. However, if it did not rains, then it can only be because they did not follow the rules.

"...... Also," Mi Fu took a deep breath, straining to calm herself before saying, "The ox's tail they prepared for you was taken away and given to He Chao."

Not only was the people pried away, even the well-prepared tail was also sent to the enemy.

Ask for rain?

How can I ask?

If this went on like this, they don't have to prepare anything, they just have to prepare to be burnt to death.

"What to do? The ceremony will begin tomorrow!" Mi Fu was anxiously pacing around the house.

"Is there any cattle in the mountains around? I can go look for it," Shao Xuan said.

"There's no need." Yang Sui waved the tail that has been stained with a lot of dust to Shao Xuan. "This is enough. Which ox's tail can not be used as a whip? The ancestors didn't say what kind of ox's tail it must be."

"What about the girls with the Shaman?" Shao Xuan asked, "If you need money or something, I have some."

"Money is not necessary, we have it at hand." Mi Fu looked at Shao Xuan, her complexion eased a lot. Although Shao Xuan was not a person from the Rain tribe, at this time, he was willing to help so she was grateful.

It's just that......

"The Shaman candidates were not enough."

Mi Fu's voice fell, then they heard a voice from outside, "Who said it wasn't enough?!"

The originally sitting Yang Sui bounced up, looking at the door in dismay.

The worn-out wooden door was moved away by a pair of hands with calluses.

Shao Xuan then saw two dark-skinned middle-aged women walk in one after another. Behind them, there was a gray-haired old man. Although he was old, his body was still healthy, his steps were stable, and he did not show how many years had come by for him.

"If the people were not enough, we can do it!" said the first middle-aged woman who came in.

"Mother! Grandmother!" Yang Sui looked at the people who came in and was shocked.

"Mother!" Mi Fu was also shocked and did not know what to say.

The three people who came in were Yang Sui' mother and grandmother, and Mi Fu's mother.

Seeing Shao Xuan there, they were slightly surprised. After Shao Xuan's self-introduction, the three people showed kindness, thanking Shao Xuan, since they knew he had helped Yang Sui before.

"You ... You ... " Yang Sui rarely stuttered.

"Why not us? The ancestors never said that the shaman must be young." Yang Sui's mother said.

The ancestors never said it but the Rain tribe, with their slender water-like body with a smart curve, therefore, in the selection of the shaman, would also choose young women. Even some families have directly trained them at an early age. So far, there has never been a woman above middle age as a shaman. After all, the middle-aged women in the tribe, because of labor, had bodies which were naturally not as great as those young people.

However, now that more and more people were turning their backs to them, that they have not even gotten eight shamans together, the three elders have made the best decision.

If it was another person as the Shaman, even after they fail to ask for rain, although they was unable to do a good job, there was no danger for their lives. But with the Sui family, it was different. The new chief of the tribe aimed at the Yang Sui, that even the whole Sui family would receive a harsh punishment. Maybe they would be burned together after the event.

Looking at the room full of sobbing people, Shao Xuan left the hut.

Outside the house stood a few middle-aged men, guarding the house around. It should be the relatives of Yang Sui or a familiar elder.

No wonder Yang Sui was reluctant to let these people, in this time, to really protect him. In the Rain tribe, he only has these people.

Outside the house was still cloudy, with low visibility. Shao Xuan planned to walk outside, thinking about what he could do.

Not far away, a half-arm-long lizard was crawling, and the creature suddenly rushed out under the sand.

Shao Xuan looked at it. It was the same breed that they had eaten recently.

Poor guy. Just as it rushed out to eat its prey, it was smashed by Shao Xuan.

Note: I'm not sure how to refer to those girls with the Shaman.. Sometimes it was just Shaman in the MTL and it's weird to call them Shaman girls or something. (^_^;)
