Chapter 261.1: Chenger's Sufferings (Part 1)
"You...!" Rhizen gazed at the screen, confused for a moment before he recognised the voice, scowling, "So it's you."
"Good, it seems you have a good memory." Shyvern laughed before shifting the camera, causing Rhizen to bellow in anger as he chuckled, "Now, now! Don't rush. We have plenty of time."
Rhizen's eyes reddened as he seethed with rage, gazing at the scene that was being shown by Shyvern.
It was the master bedroom, and strapped to a chair was Chenger, tied up, her eyes full of tears, evident of despair. It seemed she had only gone down with a fight as there were gashes all over her body.
Standing next to her was a mike stand, adjusted for its tip to be a couple of feet above her head. And, hanging in the place a mike was supposed to be affixed was a cylindrical glass jar, sporting a tap on one side.
It seemed to be an equipment from a chemistry lab. And, contained within it was a transparent liquid.
Upon seeing Rhizen's expression through the display on the computer before him, Shyvern smirked, "I'm sure you understand just what this is, right?"
Saying so, he turned the tap a little, watching a droplet of the transparent liquid slowly form at the edge, before dripping out as a droplet.
Right at this time, Shyvern removed her gag as Chenger shouted in a hurry, "Rhizen! Leave this place! They are planning to kill you...guahhhhhh!"
She writhed in place as veins popped all over her body. The droplet had fallen on her forehead, instantly turning the contact skin mushy, making it resemble a jelly.
Acid!
And, unlike the acid that was dropped on his face, this seemed to be of milder acidity, causing the damage to be less. But, Chenger's suffering was higher instead. After all, the pain threshold she suffered was within her tolerance limit. So, her brain didn't shut down her pain receptors.
It was as if Shyvern knew of the exact acidity required to do this, grinning as he shouted, "What will you do, Rhizen? If you are any late, your pretty girlfriend would become uglier than me. Maybe your chivalrous nature is just a front and you're an even more selfish bastard than me?"
"Let me see how long you'll endure before abandoning her."
"Screw you!" Shouting in anger, Rhizen lost his composure, swallowing more than ten pearls, stomping on the ground with all his might, cracking the floor.
The house trembled as the walls cracked, causing the thugs to lose their balance as Rhizen bolted towards the first floor.
Right at this time, Rhizen coincidentally noticed a broken tile near him vanishing into thin air before the respective spot healed itself to normalcy. The gears in his brain whirred as he recalled the scenes of his enemies recovering from death, thinking of something as he stomped the ground once again.
And this time, his boots unleashed an even greater thrust that was absorbed by the floor, causing the destruction to spread out before the sound of something breaking resounded.
Suddenly, the world around him shattered and fell down like glass fragments, disappearing like mist, revealing the pristine state of his house. He then heard the sounds of a flurry of footsteps rushing towards the backdoor of the house.
But, he didn't go in that direction, heading upwards, breaking into the master bedroom when he noticed Shyvern jumping through the window with a flustered expression. He quickly used an ability and rushed towards the backside, joining with his group before escaping.
It seemed everything he had shown was just a front, turning tail the moment things didn't go his way.
But, Rhizen didn't have room to be concerned about catching him, looking around to see that the chair didn't exist in the room now. And, knocked unconscious on the bed, tied up into a bundle was Chenger.
Upon seeing that she was uninjured on her forehead, Rhizen teared up, glad that nothing had happened to her, quickly rushing to her rescue. Suddenly, his senses alarmed him as he didn't even think much, grabbed hold of Chenger, and unleashed the ability of his boots to the limit, jetting out of the broken window.
Boom!
His house went up in flames, the debris from the explosion flying in every direction, some of which barely passed by him, coincidentally missing him. But, Chenger wasn't that lucky as a brick that had caught aflame slammed into her legs, injuring her severely, causing her to wake up due to the pain.
"You'll be fine! I promise! You're safe now!" Rhizen consoled her as he continued to fly through the air, soon meeting up with Druvus and Caithaleya that joined him mid-air, heading away from the place.
"Are you alright?" The moment they landed, he fished out a knife and cut off the rope that bound her, inspecting her leg wound, noticing that she had suffered from a fracture.
"It hurts..." Chenger said softly before sporting an expression of relief, "Thank goodness, you're safe. That guy gave me a terrifying feeling, as if he was assured of killing you."
"But I'm still alive and before you." He gently patted her, "I'm glad that you didn't have to go through that."
"Go through what?" Chenger was confused, asking with a slightly raised tone, "What happened there?"
"It's nothing, just get some rest." Rhizen smiled and gently knocked her unconscious, frowning as he noticed her leg beginning to swell, "We'll have to treat her quickly."
"Also," He said solemnly, "Did you guys see what happened there?"
"Uhhuh," Druvus nodded, "When we blasted a hole through the ceiling once, it strangely healed itself. We weren't able to get inside since the thugs constantly rushed at us with various abilities. Even if we killed them, they returned soon after."
"...Shit!" Rhizen gritted his teeth, "What the hell's happening here?"
...
Having fled a couple of kilometres away, Shyvern and four others stopped, gazing at one another before smiling.
The jovial youth gazed at Shyvern, "What's our next plan?"
"We'll have to wait." Shyvern controlled his anger, letting out a deep sigh before saying, "Rhizen is the child of luck. If we went any further, we would have died."
Right at this time, his System notified him.
[The effect of Destiny Luck (Level 30) has ended]
'Thank goodness I managed to complete it on time. Otherwise, it would have been me that would have died instead.' He sighed, 'It'll take me a long time to kill him at this rate. But, this wait would be worth it when my revenge is successful.'
"Besides," He grinned, "This 'Chenger' will eat his head daily and weaken him sooner or later."
