Chapter 26: The Undeniable Truth Of The Future..

At Jiang residence.

Jiang Yuyan had made a mess of her bed as she reminisced her stolen first kiss. Frowning, she got up from the bed. She suddenly remembered her brother's words about her horoscope for that day.

Entering the bathroom, she completed her routine and dashed downstairs to go to the living room.

Reaching there, she picked up a newspaper from the center table and started to flip through the pages in a hurry. Finally, she found what she was looking for. She was about to read it when a voice disturbed her.

"Going through your horoscope again?"

Jiang Yuyan didn't turn her head. Instead, she just closed her eyes and muttered, "F**k." She knew who that was. It was her brother standing behind her.

She took a deep breath before turning to face him. "What are you talking about, brother Yang?" She smiled.

"You came running downstairs with a panicked expression, picked up the newspaper, and were going through it hastily, so I thought you were reading your horoscope. Did something happen?" He asked calmly, sitting on the sofa lazily.

"What could have happened? I was just reading the newspaper to get updated on what's happening in our country."

"Is that so? Go on. But if you mean to read the horoscope from this morning, you will not find it anywhere in the newspaper." He pretended to believe everything she said.

"Why? Then where is it?" she asked curiously.

"It's here." He pointed his forefinger to his head.

"Huh? So you made it by yourself. You—" She threw a cushion in his direction, hitting him in the face.

"Ouch. My handsome face. It hurts... ah." He acted as if he were hurt.

"Stop overacting, you drama queen," she said, throwing another cushion at him.

"That means you were searching for that horoscope." He laughed out loud, annoying her further.

He spoke again, "We were going out for the first time in the city after so many years, and I wanted to make it exciting for you, so I just said it. I couldn't bear to see you relax, so I made up something about the theft." He laughed again, overjoyed that he had succeeded.

"You are so cunning, brother Yang." She leaned back against the sofa and folded her hands in front of her stomach.

"That's true. But the way you reacted, I think my words became true. Did something happen? Did someone steal something from you?"

"Just stop it," she said, annoyed.

"I'll tell you what is possible. You got your period and found out that someone had stolen your sanitary napkins," Jiang Yang teased lightly through his laughter.

"Why would someone steal a sanitary napkin instead of my bag? Can't you be more logical?" she slapped her forehead, wondering what went through her dear brother's mind.

"Nope! Talking logical is not my forte," the other said.

"You... you are impossible. Words are not enough to curse you."She threw another cushion at him.

"Tell me something new," he challenged, having caught the cushion.

"What's going on here?" It was their mother. She came to the living room and saw the two cushions lying on the floor.

"Nothing, mom. Yuyan is in Kung fu Panda mode!" He made a face at his sister.

"Just to beat this annoying Tigress."

"Hey, why do you always give me the names of female animation characters? First Matilda and now Tigress!" A groan came from her lips.

"Angry bird! Kung fu Panda! Are those females then?"

"I said it because those are cute and suit you well."

"I said it because you annoy me like a female chatterbox."

They would have continued if not for their mother's interruption.

"Enough. Dinner is ready. Come to the dining table," Mo Ruolan said and went back to the kitchen. She was used to their childish fights.

"Okay, Mom!" They said in unison and headed to the dining room.

At Lu mansion.

While everyone was busy discussing the matter of Lu Qiang's marriage, a sports car entered the premises at full speed. It must have been Lu Feng.

"This brat came back early today. Did the sun rise from the west?" Grandpa Lu asked.

"I didn't check it, father," Lu Chen said, surprised at his son's early arrival.

It was rare for him to come back home before midnight.

"Brother Lu Feng, come here," Lu Lijun raised his voice to call.

Lu Feng had seen the family sitting in the garden and opted to go to his room as he was drunk. But having heard his brother call him, he changed his plan. He couldn't say no to Lu Lijun, whom he loved and cared for. It didn't matter if others were family or outsiders; he simply didn't care for them.

Because of Lu Lijun, Lu Feng walked towards the direction of the others. Instead of heading to the sitting area, he stopped a few meters away and sat on a wooden bench under a tree.

It was dark under the tree. As he was drunk, he didn't want to get too close to his family. He also didn't want Lu Lijun to see him in such a state.

Lu Lijun approached Lu Feng and plopped down beside him. "Brother, did you know, everyone is discussing brother Lu Qiang's marriage?"

Lu Feng didn't reply. He sat silently with his head tilted towards the sky, both his hand on either side of the table, supporting his body. Even his eyes were closed.

"Brother Lu Feng, when are you going to marry?" the boy asked.

"I won't," he replied, his head still tilted upwards.

"Why?"

"Because, I find girls annoying, just like you do," Lu Feng said.

"Really?" Lu Lijun laughed.

The other hummed in reply.

"But the girl whom Brother Lu Qiang will choose will be a good person. I trust him."

He hummed again.

"He said that she would love me and care for me too. Just like he does."

"Mmmm..."

"So I promised him that I would love and care for her too."

"Mmmm..." Lu Feng didn't talk much instead kept humming, as pretending to listen and agreeing to Lu Lijun's words.

"Brother Lu Feng, she will not be annoying like other girls. So brother Feng, you will love and care for her too, right?"

Lu Feng didn't reply. He knew Lu Lijun didn't understand what he was saying, so he preferred to keep quiet.

"Brother Lu Feng, are you listening?" Not getting a reply, he shook Lu Feng's hand and asked again. "You'll love her like us, right?"

"Mmm..." Lu Feng hummed, replying because he didn't want his brother to repeat the question over and over again.

"That's great," the boy said.

These two didn't know that this promise which was made so casually would turn into the undeniable truth of their lives in the future.
