Chapter 2216: Game
"Why are you doing this?"
Sam didn't bother wasting his brain cells. He directly asked Krejin.
"Well, Christos came with a bunch of requests. I did promise him that they could done. However, they would only be done on my terms. And I want to see what this generation of the academy realm has to offer.
My cousin joined a couple of years ago and he declared that its nothing much. However, Christos' account differs a lot from what he said.
I want to see if that is true."
"So, you are just being willful? I get it. What would that test be? If possible I would like to finish it as early as possible, I got thinks to do and I am on a very tight schedule."
"Simple, for the next twenty-four hours, you will have people that have the same cultivation level as you, Divine Plane Initiation, Initial stage, come and attack you.
They can attack you from anywhere, they will ambush you, they might even try to assassinate you from afar. Their goal is to kill you and you have to survive. Based on the way Christos hyped you up, I am hoping that you wouldn't disappoint me.
So, survive and the reward is yours."
"That doesn't sound too complicated.
I do have a couple of questions though."
"Go ahead."
"You are also of same level as me. Does that mean, you are also going to participate?"
"I might. It depends on my mood."
"Second question, is she going to participate?" Sam asked as he pointed at the tall woman that escorted him here.
Krejin was surprised.
"She does. Why do you ask?"
"Nothing, just making sure." Sam said as he sized her up.
"You will be escorted back to the same bar that you were sitting in. Once you reach there, you will have thirty minutes to prepare yourself. Don't bother trying to escape. Even though only the Initiation level cultivators are going to attack you, Pre-transcendence and transcendence cultivators are in charge of keeping an eye on you.
The exits from this planet and the realm are blocked.
If you use some bullshit like transference token and such, I will use all the means of the Telchine family to come after you and your loved ones.
I am sure, you don't want that, no matter how audacious you might be.
Also..."
Krejin paused and the next moment, a red colored inscription circle appeared underneath Sam's foot. He immediately tried to jump away, but an invisible force pushed him down. Just enough to make sure that his feet touched the ground and he was able to stand straight.
It was not there to attack him.
Its there just to keep him still. The inscription circle is red in color, but except for the color there is nothing threatening about it. Sam immediately activated his energy vision as well as the observation ability.
He immediately scanned the energy patterns.
The next moment, his brain is running at the highest speed possible. He is only short of smoke emitting out of his ears and the top of his head. He is trying to decode the formation pattern inscribed in those circles.
"HMPH"
Before he could do that, however.... A snort of derision or displeasure or both was heard throughout the whole hall.
"Oh? That old man reacted?" Krejin was amused as he looked at Sam. Sam on the other hand ignored everything, he injected his energy through leg into the inscription circle.
He is trying to accelerate the observation process.
"Kid, know your place." An old archaic voice was heard from deep within the building and Sam's concentration was finally broken. At that exact moment, the inscription circle also disappeared, and a mark appeared on the back of Sam's hand.
He frowned as he looked at the runic patterns on it.
The runes were a bit different from what he is used to, but based on his analysis earlier, he understood a bit.
"Tracking Spell?" Sam spoke out loud. Almost like it is a question as if he is also unsure of his hypothesis.
"Not bad. You actually understood it a bit." The same age-old voice spoke, but it didn't explain what the actual use of the pattern is.
That doubt was clarified by Krejin.
"This is indeed a tracker spell, however it is a bit different from the regular tracking techniques. The tracking wil begin only if there are certain conditions are triggered.
In this case, the tracking spell will be activated if you stay at a single place for a long time, at least thirty minutes or so. After all, I can't have you use some weird treasure to disguise or hide yourself in my own territory.
If I could just go berserk then I would have allowed you to, but unfortunately this is my place and I can't just thrash it, just because I felt like it. So, to make it easier for me to find you, this tracking spell would be used."
"What are other trigger points? What is the range?"
"When you try to leave this city, leave the planet or the realm. The range... I don't know."
Sam just looked at the inscription without saying anything. He is curious. The runes were familiar in many ways, but there is definitely a stark difference. He managed to analyze a large portion of the inscription, but not enough.
After some time, he looked at Krejin and said.
"Anything else?"
"You don't seem to be worried."
"Anything else?"
Sam didn't answer, he instead he repeated the same question.
"Young master is asking you a question." The tall woman spoke with dissatisfaction.
Sam frowned and this made Krejin even more amused.
"Nothing, you can leave. Escort him properly."
He directed the latter sentence to that woman. Sam followed her to the bar and sat down at the same table. He closed his eyes and focused on the pattern trying to understand it.
"You will be dead today. Do you have any will prepared? Or do you want to leave a message to any of your loved ones? We will ensure it will reach them."
Sam paused and looked at her in askance.
"Young master is a generous person. He often gives his enemies to have their way with the last wish. As long as it doesn't exceed certain limits, he is a generous man with a heart of gold."
"You can keep that gold for yourself. You can screw off now and not disturb me. I have things to do."
Sam then focused on the inscription again.
The tall woman felt frustrated. She couldn't really put a finger on it, but the moment she looked at Sam's face, attitude, she wanted to beat him to death. There is something that she saw in him, that felt so distant and irritating to her, that made her want to beat him to death.
She left Sam in the bar and went back to the mansion to meet with her young master.
"You keep a close eye on him. I just want to see how much he can endure."
"Yes, young master." She received Krejin's orders and declared her compliance with the face full of joy and reverence.
Krejin just shook his head after he watched that expression before walking away.
The tall woman contacted someone using her communication token.
"The target is the one in black colored attire. He is seated at one of most attention grabbing chairs.
Mobilize all the forces that you can muster, but all of them should just Divine plane Initiation that too in the Initial stage. Not weaker, not stronger.
Use any tactics and kill him.
You can start the attacks in fifteen minutes.
Once again, don't you dare lose."
With that she cut off the communication not even bothering to answer. She went into a different room to sit in meditation while awaiting the upcoming announcement of her subordinate regarding Sam's death.
Sam on the other hand sat in the restaurant as if he was oblivious to the impeding danger, Sam is focused on the pattern inscribed on his hand.
And in that lost self, the time passed quicker than usual. By then a couple of people entered the bar. Both of them are in neat uniforms. When they arrived and showed a token, the bar tender and the manager cooperated fully.
The customers were removed.
Even when the time is up, Sam is not really out of his dazed state. Instead, he actually started projecting some small simulations in the virtual screens.
*SWOOSH*
The sword keened through the air and is ready to cut off the head of Sam. But...
*KEEN*
Right before it could make contact, the sword stopped at the exact moment before it touched Sam. He is still calculating stuff, when all of a sudden...
"Ah... AHH AAAAAAAAAAA..."
The swordsman that was about to take Sam's life, suddenly fell to his knees before he rolled on the ground.
