Chapter 217

Over's Seed [Part 2]

"A-A-Are you alright-?!"

Fukushima dismounted his horse together with other samurai escorts and ran down the crater with a pale face.

Fukushima's POV

Why is everyone in the Stuart family inside the crater?

People don't normally go inside it, y'know? It's a hole created by a monster, y'know? Isn't it dangerous?

"Ah, your clothes have become so dirty..."

The three siblings were covered in dirt from head to toe.

They were wearing clothes of the highest quality, as one would expect of the Kingdom's nobles. It was a pity, but with that much soil sticking to the clothes, the fabric must have been damaged, right?

It seemed they had been caught up in the blast when the capsule burst open after Over's seed fell.

"The seeds have already gone to god knows where in the ground. This land has already become Over's territory. It's dangerous, so let's make haste to leave this place."

Seeing the family gathering around Lady Emma and discussing something very carefreely, I urged them to move from this place.

When the seeds began to prepare for germination, they would start to suck up nutrients in large amounts. The humans who were standing on the ground were no exception either.

End of Fukushima's POV

"So what Nee-sama is saying is that there's a meaning behind this crater?"

"Uh-huh, because of its bowl-like shape, water will naturally gather here, right? Since the seeds will grow into such humongous plants, securing water must be their top priority."

"But Emma? Why does the capsule burst? Y'know, that BOOM in the ground earlier, like what William said."

"...Because if there are several seeds in one capsule, they will be competing for nutrients unless they are separated at a certain distance? A-And, because they won't grow well if there is no oxygen in the soil?"

Emma guessed that Over's seeds sucked oxygen into the ground by spouting dirt once into the air, using the impact of the capsule's burst.

"I see, so Over was tilling the land by itself. Sure enough, Emma is so smart."

"Dear, praise her too much and it will get to her head, okay? This child gets cocky quick."

"! Oh, then perhaps the reason why the seeds fell with an impact strong enough to even form a crater was to destroy any living thing, monsters, animals, plants, humans... that used to occupy the place and turn it into their nutrients!"

"Just as I had expected from you... William. You have grown into such a decent person in this world... I'm so glad."

"...Mother... please don't make it sound like I was a bum in our past life..."

"Exactly, Melsa. He was really nothing but a no-hoper in our past life..."

"Father..."

Fukushima was taken aback as he listened in on the family's discussion. ...What's up with this family? Aren't they far too ahead of what the Imperial Japanese researchers have come up with after desperately researching Over? They have thought up of such a detailed hypothesis after only seeing the seeds fly once?

Huh? Huhh? Just what is this family?

...No, firstly, we should evacuate.

I must make sure this family returns to the Kingdom safely.

"Pardon me, but it is dangerous when the seeds start preparing for germination, so let's evacuate at once." Fukushima urged them once more as it was best to leave this place as fast as they could.

"Ah, Fukushima-sama. If you're talking about the seeds, I got one here. See?"

George lifted one of his hands while replying to Fukushima.

His hand was clasping an Over seed which was covered by a thin layer of white fur-like thing.

"Huh?"

"It's kinda like a baseball. How nostalgic."

George, who used to be in the baseball club in their previous life, started posing like a pitcher.

"Yo! Nii-sama! That's so cool!

"Eight! Left!"

"Huh? Wasn't Nii-sama's uniform number 7?"

"Nee-sama, eight is the batting order."

"Then can't the uniform number also be 8?"

"Nee-sama, those were the position numbers, so..."

"Eh? But like Ichiro was 51(?), right? I thought baseball was played by nine players, no?"

"That, um, he is that pro, right..."

"Numbers in baseball are so confusing. Oh, then is batting order #8 amazing or something?"

"Eh? #8... is... umm..."

William looked back and forth between his older brother and sister in a fluster.

"Just leave it at that, Emma."

Leonard softly put his hand on George's shoulder and ended the siblings' conversation on baseball.

"Sorry, it's because I got carried away and posed like a pitcher..."
