Chapter 173: Remembrance System Host

'Stencil!' He was unable to control himself, rushing towards the living room, about to open the door when he paused. Reality struck him as he calmed down, thinking, 'Unless Stencil became a System Slayer, it's impossible for her to appear here.'

'And, the one registered in Info Scanner is the Remembrance System and not that of a System Slayer.' He thought, calming down before scowling at the fact that he became hopeful for a moment.

He calmly sat on the floor, closing his eyes as he controlled the Spydragon, using it to see within the room, gazing at the figure of Stencil staring at a computer.

She was typing on the computer pretty fast, seemingly engaging with someone on a forum. As the quality of the Spydragon was subpar, it was unable to make out the contents on the screen. Even the face of Stencil wasn't...

'Wait!' Compass Carburettor noticed a couple of oddities in the scene. First was Stencil's fingers that typed on the keyboard. The keyboard used in this world was the QWERTY keyboard too. So, he was aware of the position of every key.

And, based on the finger movement, he was able to conjure a mental image of the keyboard, forming a sentence in his mind easily. Since he had a clear angle of all the keys on the keyboard, he was able to form the sentences typed by Stencil.

[Trasg fubkrt, why are you alice?]

'What the heck does that mean?' He wondered, trying to recorrect the sentence based on the nearby keys as he uttered, "Trash Fucker, why are you alive?"

'Is that what she typed? But, Stencil isn't someone that talks like this. She should barely be 10 years old now.' As he thought, he felt a mild jarring sensation in the scene.

The second issue was the position of the mouse. Stencil was moving the mouse, at least that was what her action implied. But in reality, the mouse was positioned a bit away from her hand, not in contact.

Still, the screen seemed to be changing constantly, apparent that the mouse was being used to do the changes.

The height of the chair was also lower than the level necessary for Stencil to see the screen properly. There were a couple other minor points to note that also didn't make any sense.

Wishing to sense them further, the Spydragon landed on the window sill, returning to its serpentine form as it slithered a bit before facing its head towards one corner of the window where a net protected the room from the mosquitoes.

One of the windows was kept open to facilitate air circulation. So, the only thing preventing the Spydragon's entry was the net. Opening its mouth, the Spydragon unleashed a tiny energy blade, poking a hole into it.

There was a small popping sound that resounded as a result. But, Stencil didn't seem to have heard it as the Spydragon patiently waited for a couple of minutes before slithering through the hole.

It then slowly made its way towards a good spot, observing both the keyboard and monitor. Upon seeing the content that was typed and the content that appeared on the screen, Compass Carburettor frowned, 'It's not her.'

After all, the words that appeared on the screen and the words that were typed didn't match.

He finally understood the sense of disconnect here. The one seated before the computer was an entirely different person. But, he was remembering that person as Stencil.

That was why things didn't make sense when observed minutely.

He sighed in disappointment, sensing through Info Scanner that his target's Mental Energy reserves remained the same.

Now that he realised it wasn't Stencil, he wasn't apprehensive of killing this opponent at all. After all, he wasn't a good person, nor had he ever claimed to be one.

He just didn't kill people due to his moral guilt. But when pressed with the concept of saving his daughter and killing an innocent, he was aware of what choice he would take. Sure, he would suffer from guilt later.

But would he hesitate because of that? No!

The Spydragon continued to observe the person that looked like Stencil in his mind. Even though he wished to kill that person and obtain their Core Skill, he didn't grow impatient.

Even if the opponent was only a System at Level 2 and barely had any Mental Energy, he couldn't carelessly saunter in for the kill. After all, he wasn't aware of any other Skills that the Permanence System owned.

But, a plan started to form in his mind already as he approached the computer situated in one of the rooms before opening up the browser. He typed in an address, opening a forum before scrolling through the numerous topics of discussion, finally pulling open the one used by the Remembrance System Host.

Using the Spydragon, he figured out her name, targeting her online with some toxic content immediately. And, as a veteran of being on the internet, he was able to target his opponent's psyche through his words, immediately causing the other party to type in a string of expletives.

Laughing, Compass Carburettor continued with the process. Though, he never used even a single bad word, talking in a way that his casual sentences got under his opponent's skin.

There was no deeper meaning to this than to simply trigger the Remembrance System Host. He planned to first rile up the other party constantly and then take action.

Society was still wholly functional. So, if he did anything, there were bound to be traces that would lead back to him. That's why he planned to take on a roundabout approach and ensure the traces became so thin that by the time the police managed to trace it back to him, the apocalypse would have begun in full swing.

He calmly created multiple accounts, constantly attacking the Remembrance System Host from many identities, making it seem as if the other party had triggered a lot of keyboard warriors tonight.

Through the Spydragon, he was aware of the other party's behaviour, using it to tackle further, making it seem like he/she was easy to predict the action of.

Unable to tolerate it anymore, the Remembrance System Host slammed the keyboard, shut down the computer, and slumped on the bed, intending to sleep.

Letting out an evil chuckle, Compass Carburettor ensured to hide the Spydragon somewhere safe before he too returned to sleep.
