Chapter 1583: Absurd Claims
Ning walked into the room past a stunned Katie, not even looking back at the other two stunned women. He sat on the only chair in the room, waiting for the others to enter.
Parima was the first to get control of her shock and quickly looked past the others toward Ning. "Wait, what are you saying?" she asked. "Heal Sparkless? That's not possible!"
"It is not," Ning said. "That's why I brought you two here."
"No, but..." she wanted to question his words, but she didn't even know where to begin. Like, was this guy even serious right now?
"Ning, please don't joke around like that," Katie said, unsure just what else to say.
"There is no joke involved here," Ning said seriously. "In the past week that I've been stuck in my room without anywhere to leave, I've been greatly experimenting on myself to see what causes Sparkless and how I can remove it."
"After much thought, I have finally figured it out."
The three girls remained stunned for a while, not uttering a single word.
"Aren't you going to enter? We should get comfortable so we can get started soon," Ning said.
"No, wait," Parima said. "Explain what is going on exactly. How could you figure out something no one else has in just a week?"
Ning shrugged. "I'm special. Don't worry about it," he said.
Katie felt both overwhelming hope and the possibility of overwhelming despair. She didn't know what to do with these feelings except take in long deep breaths.
She turned toward the other two girls and invited them in. "I don't know what is going on exactly, but please come inside and rest. I'll make some tea, or would you like just some water?"
As Katie headed off to the side to make some refreshments for the group, Parima came up to Ning and asked, "Lieutenant Ning, please tell us clearly what we are doing. It can't be that we are actually trying to heal Sparkless. There is no cure."
"That is what we are doing and there is one now," Ning answered. "Why are you so skeptical of this?"
"I..." Parima stopped for a moment. "It's just something impossible that you're proposing."
Derria sat to the side, not saying anything and just lost in her thought. After a while, she asked, "Just how do we do it?"
"It's simple, actually," Ning said. "What I've discovered is that there is an organ inside of one's body that is responsible for using Spark. When you consume Spark, that organ is what turns it all into energy for you to use."
"When you consume too much Spark or don't use it and let it linger, it gets covered in crystals created from that energy."
"That crystal, which I've come to name Spark crystal, is what is preventing you from gaining access to using Spark again. So, if you can get rid of it, you are more than capable of reusing Spark once again."
Ning's words made the entire thing sound so simple, and the girls slowly felt the possibility. But, they still needed proof that this was the case.
Ning looked at the three. "Do you guys really not trust me on this at all?" he asked.
Parima and Katie said nothing at all, just lost in their own thought.
Derria took a deep breath and asked, "Let us assume for a second that what you are saying is absolutely correct. What is our mission here then? Why have you brought the two of us?"
"That organ in your body is deep in your naval area, and usually only covered in Spark crystal. I need to use my powers of Conversion to convert that crystal into water. But because they are so deep in the body, I do not know just what to target with my powers. I need to know where it is so I can turn it into water."
"And to accurately know where it is exactly, I need your help," he said, pointing directly to Derria.
Derria's eyes widened in shock once more as she realized what Ning was suggesting. The thing she had been traumatized by, the thing that nearly made her Sparkless in the past and had ruined her life; Ning was asking her to do it once again.
"You're asking me to... divine an answer for you?" she asked.
"Divine? That's a neat word for what you're doing, I suppose. Yes, I am asking you to divine for me," Ning answered.
Derria began trembling as she slowly shook her head. "I-I... I can't. I can't do that. I-I..." "Derria, look at me," Ning said, trying to get her out of her state. "Derria."
The girl turned to look at Ning, fear clear in her eyes.
"I want you to look at me and tell me exactly what you're scared of," Ning said. "Does Divining hurt you? Does it physically give you pain?"
Derria shook her head. Spark never hurt anyone at all. It was simple energy that flowed in and out of one's body. There were maybe times when too much Spark caused one to feel
uncomfortable, but never true pain.
"Then does it give you a headache?" Ning asked. "Does it give you nausea?"
Derria shook her head again.
"Then what are you scared of?" Ning asked.
"I... I don't want to be Sparkless," she answered. "I... I can't do it. I don't want to feel that horrible feeling."
Ning nodded slowly, understanding what feeling she was talking about.
"Then this is good news for you, isn't it?" Ning asked. "I've cured Sparkless. You have no longer any need to worry about it."
Derria didn't believe that. There was also no proof. She didn't even trust Ning to be correct, to begin with, but she wasn't just going to say it.
Ning looked at her and said, "Derria. There is a chance here that I can cure Sparkless forever. No longer will you or anyone else have to live in fear of losing that sweet connection anymore? Do you not want to see if it is true or not?"
