Chapter 131: A Strange Patient
"Don't worry, Uncle Wang, nothing will happen to the clinic," Yu Gangan's lips curved slightly into a smile.
"You..." Uncle Wang shook his head, unsure of what to say.
He had been at the clinic for a few years now, so he knew that Yu Gangan was a kind person. After she graduated, she spent every day at the clinic consulting patients and had no idea how cruel the world was.
"Uncle Wang, the weather is cold and there aren't many patients. You can finish early today."
Yu Gangan understood that Uncle Wang was worried about her. She was actually worried too. But, she knew that there was no point in feeling anxious and worried. After all, she couldn't stop what was coming her way.
When she was young, she often cried because other children had parents and she didn't.
Back then, her grandfather used to tell her stories about the poor lives of other orphans and children that had been kidnapped.
Those children had nothing. Whereas, she had her grandfather, her teacher, her uncle's family and all the neighbors on Nanzhen Street.
Whether it was good or bad, at least, she was fortunate enough to have a family.
So, this clinic was her home; she couldn't possibly sell it. No matter how worried she was, she was determined to protect it with her life.
"You still have an appointment," Uncle Wang reminded.
"I can pick out the prescription myself," Yu Gangan smiled.
After Yu Gangan said this, Uncle Wang did not persist on being polite. So, he packed his things and left.
Time slowly ticked by and the appointment time soon passed; the patient did not arrive.
After an hour and a half, Yu Gangan assumed the patient wasn't coming. If they were, they would have made a phone call.
So, she removed her white coat and hung it up. But, just as she was about to finish for the day, the door to the clinic suddenly flew open.
Walking in front was a man with a big and tall build. Although he was dressed in a suit jacket and trousers, he looked serious and mighty as his military boots slammed on the ground.
After he opened the door, he stepped to the side and stood up straight.
Afterwards, an old white-haired man dressed in a Tang suit 1 and a pair of old cloth shoes walked in slowly while holding onto a pipe.
Yu Gangan immediately slipped her white doctor's coat back on and smiled politely, "Hello, are you the one that made an appointment, Mr. Chen Zhenghe?"
The man in the military boots stepped forward, "I am Chen Zhenghe, I was the one that made the appointment, but the patient is our family's elder."
Yu Gangan sat down and pointed to the seat opposite her, gesturing for the patient to sit.
But, the old man was in no rush to sit down. With his hands held behind his back, he scanned his eyes across the clinic and slowly made his way over to the chair.
Although the old man was well over sixty, his gaze was still sturdy and sharp and his body exuded a cold and authoritative presence.
But, the two men did not look like father-grandfather and son.
They looked more like a superior with a subordinate.
"Hello, may I ask where you are feeling unwell?" Yu Gangan asked gently.
The man looked at Yu Gangan fastidiously as his expression darkened, "If I knew where I was unwell, why would I be here to see you?"
Yu Gangan: "..."
Didn't this man come to see a doctor because he knew he was unwell?
If someone was perfectly fine and wasn't feeling unwell, then why did they go to see a doctor?
This patient was a little strange.
Yu Gangan smiled, adjusted the pillow used for checking pulses and gestured for the old man to rest the back of his wrist on it, "In that case, let me check your pulse."
The old man presented his wrist and Yu Gangan immediately checked his pulse in detail. While she was checking his pulse, she focused her gaze on the old man's face and asked him to stick out his tongue.
