Chapter 1263: Leng Shuangwei Walked to Her With a Smile

"Xi, I want to go to the bathroom," Jiang Yuning said to Nian Xi.

"Go, I'll wait here."

After Jiang Yuning left, Nian Xi paced from side to side, then looked at more cars at the auto show. She couldn't afford any of the cars now, but when she got married, she could ask people for the cars she liked as gifts.

She had a boyfriend now. How far away could marriage be?

At the show, she saw some familiar faces. Leng Shuangwei and Leng Zhe were also shopping for a car. Leng Zhe wasn't a fan of the Nian Family people, so he greeted Nian Xi with a quick nod, then turned to look at the car that he was interested in.

"Xi, happy to see you here." Leng Shuangwei walked to her with a smile. "Are you getting a new car?"

"No." Nian Xi shook her head with a bitter smile. "I'm just a police officer. How can I afford a new car? My mom said she'll only buy me a new car when I get married."

Hearing her talking about getting married, Leng Shuangwei weirdly paused for a second, then said, "I'm really sorry that you and Ji Chuan didn't get married. At first, I didn't know why you guys suddenly broke up. Later on, Ji Chuan got drunk and told me the reason. Xi, I'm really sorry. I'm the reason why things between you two ended up like this. Nothing was going on between Ji Chuan and me. We are good friends, and we both served in the army, so we had a lot to talk about. That night, I was so upset because of your brother. I had no other friends in Xia City, that's why I asked Ji Chuan to keep me company. I think he lied to you because he felt sorry for me."

"That was not the only problem between me and him. That wasn't even the main reason why we broke up." Nian Xi smiled. "Let bygones be bygones."

"You and Ji Chuan have been through so much together. You had even booked a wedding venue and picked your wedding dress. We were all waiting to attend your wedding." Leng Shuangwei knitted her brows slightly and said, "I was too selfish. I shouldn't have asked to be your bridesmaid. How's your brother now? I heard that he's a father. I'm so jealous of him."

Her mouth corners curved into a bitter smile.

Nian Xi knew that Leng Shuangwei would never have a child, so she felt sorry for her. "He's as mean as ever. I want to punch him in the face all the time. Shuangwei, I heard that you got promoted again. Congratulations."

"All I have is my career now." Leng Shuangwei smiled, then she looked behind Nian Xi and asked, "Xi, do you know this man here? He's been looking at you the whole time."

Nian Xi stopped short, then turned back and saw Jiang Yuning standing behind her.

"Shuangwei, let me introduce him to you. This is Jiang Yuning, my boyfriend." She hurriedly held Jiang Yuning's hand.

Leng Shuanwei paused briefly with surprise. A trace of disappointment was seen in her eyes. "So you already have a boyfriend. Does Ji Chuan..."

"He knows about it." Nian Xi interrupted her and said, "Shuangwei, I think Uncle Leng is waiting for you. We'll talk some other time."

"Okay. See you." Leng Shuangwei nodded at Jiang Yuning, then turned and went back to Leng Zhe.

"We should leave too." Nian Xi held Jiang Yuning's hand, turned and left.

Jiang Yuning pulled his hand out of hers as they walked out of the gymnasium. The light of the setting sun poured on the tips of his brows, making him look sad. "You know so much about getting married because you've done all those things together with Feng Yu Chuan. You booked the venue and picked the wedding dress. You only needed a ceremony to become a married couple."

Nian Xi wasn't expecting him to find out about it so soon.

"How much did you hear just now?"

"I'm not telling you." Jiang Yuning gave her a glance with a grievance. He would never tell her what he knew.

"..."

"There are some things that I didn't tell you. I didn't mention them to you because I feel they aren't important to me anymore," Nian Xi said. "Feng Ji Chuan and I broke up right before the wedding. Many of our relatives received the invitation to our wedding. Canceling the wedding so suddenly was embarrassing. My family considered it highly shameful."
