Chapter 114: [Bloody Night]

Chapter 114: [Bloody Night]

"Wah... Wahhh..."

In the woods not far from the camp, Markray was crying his heart out like a bullied child.

"My Melika... My Melika..."

Markray's tears wouldn't stop every time he thought of the woman he fell in love with at first sight lying in another man's embrace, in addition to the fact that the man in question also threatened him against ever going near her.

"Even though she should have been mine... Mine..."

The more he thought about it, the sadder Markray got, and the more unwilling he was to accept it. His tears flooded out to the point where even his snot was flowing.

Markray hadn't shown such a pitiful appearance since he was seven years old. That showed just how much sorrow Markay was in.

"I won't give up... Absolutely won't give up..."

Markray repeatedly tried to convince himself like that.

"There will definitely be a chance... A chance..."

Although Markray reflexively wanted to drop to the ground the moment he remembered Shien's threats, giving up on Melika was really just something that he couldn't do.

After all, no matter what, this man's obsession with Melika was to the point where he was willing to abandon his status as nobility. No matter how much he feared Shien, Markray still didn't want to give up.

Of course, Markray really was terrified by his treatment at Shien's hands, so he didn't even dare to think about taking revenge.

If not for that, it was likely that Shien really wouldn't have allowed Markray to leave. Even if Shien didn't kill Markray within the camp, he would have still thought of some way to remove Markray so as to prevent future troubles.

The current Markray both hated and feared Shien. On the one side, he lost all thoughts of opposing Shien, but on the other, he was just unwilling to give up on Melika.

Thus, Markray could only whine to himself.

"There's no way that he could stay by Melika's side all the time. Melika would definitely be alone at some point..."

When that time came, he could take Melika away and run far away. They can just live out their lives somewhere that no one else could find them.

So long as he could have Melika, Markray thought, then he could be happy with it no matter how hard a life it is.

"That guy isn't a god or anything, so there's no way that he could know where Melika and I went..."

Markray settled on that plan.

As for whether or not Melika herself was willing, that wasn't within the bounds of Markray's consideration.

Just like Shien had said, Markray had completely ignored Melika's will on this matter from start to end. It can be called his own extreme selfishness, or it can be said to be extreme self justification.

Markray was living in his own world where he was the main character. Even Melika was just a character in his story. Since she's the heroine of the story, then she should be something that did as he willed.

That was why Shien had said that, at the base, Markray wasn't any different from any other noble. It's just that others had the self awareness, but he didn't. He had no sense that he did anything wrong, rather, he considered everything he did to be just.

"Alright! It's settled then!"

Markray, having decided, wiped off his own snot and tears and pumped himself back up.

"I'll just wait until the moment my chance comes, no matter how long it takes."

Markray had made his decision, turned about, and got ready to head back to the camp.

However, Markray never imagined that would be the last thing he did in his life.

"Stab!"

A sharp blade pierced Markray's body. It entered from behind and exited through his chest in a spray of blood.

"Cough..."

Markray froze there. Only after a moment did he finally slowly lower his head and looked at the blade that poked out of his chest with disbelieving eyes.

At that moment, a hand extended from the side hand grabbed Markray's head.

"Foosh!"

Following a flash of light, intense flames covered Markray's entire body and burned it to nothing.

Markray couldn't even let out a scream. He didn't even realize that he had lost his life before he was completely erased without leaving any remains.

Only then did the hand that had grabbed onto Markray pull back, and the figure of an old man appeared there.

"Finally caught up."

the old man looked toward the light coming from the camp and laughed darkly.

As for the person that was just killed, he had already disappeared from the old man's memories.

"Lord Baydr."

the shadow that stabbed through Markray's body showed itself. It was accompanied by a large group of people in guard positions around the old man.

Those people were indeed the butchers of the Old Demon Faction.

They had finally caught up to the transport team.

"How goes the scouting?"

Baydr asked casually.

"We already have the results."

Baydr's subordinates quietly reported.

"There are a total of 118 people in the camp. Nearly all of them are humans."

"Of them, there are three individuals at level 30 and lower, 87 between level 30 and 40, 23 between level 40 and 50, three between 50 and 60, and finally two individuals above at level 60 and above."

"Based on the personel with [Appraisal] and [Detection] skills, of those two, one is level 77, which should be lord Jillian, and the other is level 68, who should be the highest level person there.

After listening to the report, Baydr let out a laugh.

"There are actually people below level 30? And there are three at that? It looks like Lamdrion indeed didn't sent out any sort of real force to transport Jillian."

Baydr's caution toward the camp dropped by several degrees.

Against that degree of combat power, they should be able to easily slaughter them all even without Baydr himself getting involved right?

"It's probably for the sake of hogging the credit. That's why Lamdrion's administrator didn't want to ask the other towns in the territory for aid." Baydr easily saw through the reasons for it and laughed coldly, "Humans truly aren't salvageable no matter which age it is. Just when will we be able to purge this world of those races of eyesores?"

The hatred that Baydr leaked out in his words were even thicker than Jillian's.

The rest showed similar attitudes. It was like they considered their upcoming work as something that dirties their hands, as if it was like being forced to clean up garbage. They showed expressions of hatred and resignation.

The Old Demon Faction was just that kind of existence.

That's why be it Baydr or the others of the Old Demon Faction, none of them will act like normal villains and try to taunt their enemies. Instead, they only had an attitude akin to cleaning up the trash, as if it was a boring and repetitive but necessary work, and repeatedly carried out those massacres.

This time was no different.

"Should we charge straight in? Lord Baydr?" the subordinate asked, "We've already pierced the surrounding boundary. Those humans should detect it soon."

"Then let's finish the preparatory work first." Baydr waved a hand, "Send a group in to infiltrate first and rescue Jillian so as to avoid those human animals getting desperate and killing the hostage. Then send a group to the surrounding area to seal off any escape routes. It doesn't matter if it's by setting up barriers or destroying the roads, either way, just make sure that none of those humans get the chance to escape."

As he said that, Baydr licked his bloodstained finger.

"Same old rules as before. We'll begin the slaughter as soon as the preparatory work is done."

"It doesn't matter if they're men or women, or whatever race they might be. Even if they are demons, any that would mix among humans can only be traitors."

"Kill every last one of them. Leave no survivors."

Thus, the butchers begun their work.

The bloody night thus commenced.
