Chapter 108: Confirmed Profitable

The peaceful night passed

And when the sun rose to the horizon, the drumbeats of the Dragon slaying battle could be heard.

Even at the foot of the snowy mountains of the East Sea, the altitude was high, and hence the flora was sparse. The journey to the mountain felt like going from a virgin forest into the little woods. The higher the altitude, the more likely it was to encounter such sparse woods.

However, at this time,

8,000 Orcs and Vhouls were being led by Makhu Redd into a trap.

The deception was working as Makhu Redd had told them that the great master Korialstrasz had awakened and wanted to give assignments to the leaders of both races. Korialstrasz wanted the leaders to bring their elite warriors along with them.

According to logic, the leaders of both races would be suspicious of such a strange order.

Because when the master gave orders, he would not entertain through other dubious middleman characters. The master would meet the leaders directly.

But it was just a suspicion,

And the leaders didn't dare to act on the suspicion and decline the master's order, as it might bring destruction.

Korialstrasz was their master, the only king and ruler of this land!

His authority made all the races cower.

Hence the Orcs and Vhouls had been fully equipped when they stepped into the trap. Then, suddenly, two Human legions appeared from all sides and started killing them!

Makhu Redd was unable to convince the Orcs and Vhouls to leave their equipment...

But even though they brought the equipment, the ill-prepared Orcs and Vhouls fell in the ambush to the blades of the Human legions.

The Orcs and Vhouls faced the two most elite legions of Iron Nation. As numbers of both sides were evenly matched, the Orcs and Vhouls could not fend off the Human legions, and their battle formations were destroyed.

Loud roaring, groaning and wailing filled the battlefield!

This was a one-sided massacre!

The battle spread to the entire snowy mountains of the East Sea.

Once the other races would hear about the battle, they would immediately come to the rescue of the Orcs and Vhouls.

Augustine required live sacrifices instead of the dead bodies of the races of the Great Dragon. The two Human legions were not qualified to complete such a task.

The Orcs and Vhouls escaped with their wounded into the forest.

The corpses and wounded ones left were dragged away by the Human legions. The legions, led by Augustine, rushed to the Dragon's cave that was on the mountainside. It was a cave opening at an altitude of 5,000 meters.

When he brought the legions to the Dragon's cave, they finally could experience the conditions the Great Dragon lived in.

The cave was a lava cave that was a few hundred meters in length and height.

They could feel heat waves emanating out, and the dim crimson cave interior gave an oppressive feeling.

The snowy mountains of the East Sea was an extinct volcano.

The cause of such a phenomena was the Fire Dragon, Korialstrasz. As he stayed in the cave, he absorbed the energy of the lava. The volcano could have become active but once the Dragon had absorbed all the fire magic, it became extinct.

The Fire Dragon would grow, even though it was in a deep sleep.

To a Great Dragon, whether it was sleeping or being awake...

The passage of tens of years would result in the Dragon upgrading by tens of levels...

Becoming that strong was that simple for the Dragon.

It could even be called the lazy way of becoming stronger...

"Are you sure that the Dragon can't hear us?" Augustine surveyed the deep interior of the cave but was unable to find the Dragon. Some fear had crept inside him.

His target was a Fire Dragon. It was extremely difficult to kill even the weakest of the Fire Dragons.

Makhu Redd was also worried, and a hint of impatience could be detected as he said, "Don't worry. The Fire Dragon is unable to hear us. But my barrier can only block sounds and not the smell of blood. I need your soldiers to carry the corpses to the altar. Make haste. I have to complete the magic formation before the Dragon awakes."

"Make haste. Carry all the corpses to the altar." Augustine quickly shouted.

Meanwhile,

There were traces of the Great Dragon clans at the foot of the mountain.

But they did not charge up the mountain. Instead, they gathered together and were preparing for battle!

Augustine clenched his fists and looked at Makhu Redd. He coldly said, "I'll deploy a legion at the cave opening. If your magic formation fails, we're all doomed to die. But before I die, I'll make sure to kill you."

"Don't use your scare tactics on me. We're on the same boat. And I have lived for tens of years and braved many dangers. Now remember, once I activate the magic formation, the Dragon will awaken.

"Don't forget, even if you sacrifice the entire legion, you have to restrain the Dragon. If I'm unable to activate the altar, you'll be burnt to death by the Dragon's breath!"

Makhu Redd laughed coldly. He did not care what Augustine thought of him.

He walked to the altar and then used both his hands to raise his staff before smashing it at the heart of the altar!

Bang!

A strong wave of black magic emanated out.

Wisps of black tentacles appeared from the altar. These black tentacles were like formless energy that fed on the soul and flesh of the Orcs and Vhouls.

And just when the altar was just activated.

A loud booming sound came from the deep interior of the cave. It sounded as if something with a massive body had turned.

Augustine frowned and shouted, "Shield bearers, move forward. Archers, stay behind. The rest of you will prepare the heavy-duty crossbows."

Then he looked at a small team that had not yet participated in the battle. It was a team composed of a hundred Humans with varying equipment. However, it was of very high quality. But, they had gathered together in groups of three to five and looked wary of each other.

One of them was a man wearing a black armor engulfed in black flaming battle energy. He laughed and said, "Don't worry. We'll act when it's time. We also intend to kill this Dragon. But we don't want to be cannon fodders."

"Adolf's correct. We, the bounty hunters, are not here to die. We'll strike when it's appropriate. Field marshal of Iron Nation, are you worried that we are breaking our agreement?" A Half-Elf who had three scars on his face condescendingly laughed at Augustine.

Augustine pondered in silence. Behind him were an elite team composed of 50 men. It was the legendary BOSS team.

A legion commander behind him discreetly spoke to Augustine who had been stroking his chin. His eyes squinted as he said, "My execution team will fight together with you. You won't be cannon fodders. But if you escape, don't expect me to show mercy!"

He threw his hood to the ground, revealing a dark violet armor and a long curved Dragon-slayer blade hanging by his waist.

When the bounty hunters witnessed Augustine's domineering aura, they swallowed hard.

Everybody knew that Augustine was very strong, but they only realized the extent of his power that day. Augustine's rate of growth was much faster than them. He had already become a high-level professional.

While Augustine was busy exerting his authority.

Nobody noticed a few outrageously agile Elves were climbing the steep mountain. They evaded the detection of the Dragon clans and had arrived at the top of the cave opening.

Their number was not too big.

Only 130. But it was hard to find Elves with such extraordinary agility. Those who were chosen by William were NPCs with high-level bloodlines.

William and the Elves sprawled in the snow and held their breath while watching intently. They kept as quiet as they could.

William was waiting.

He did not believe that the Great Dragon would die that fast.

He wanted to kill the Dragon, but his goal was not merely the Dragon's body.

"Though there are no experience points for being the last one to kill the Dragon, there would still be Dragon Slayer title and the legendary fame, which are what I'm after." William clenched his fists.

Of course, William did not want to send the Elves to their deaths in this matter.

William was confident he could do it alone.

If he was successful, it would be highly profitable. If he failed, there would not be any losses.
