Chapter 883: The Veiled One

"What will you trade for this information?" Whispera inquired, her eyes gleaming with anticipation as she leaned forward, a smirk playing on her lips.

Ren frowned, his brows knitting together in confusion. "You want us to pay? After we have saved you from that ice?"

"That is that. This is this," Whispera replied, her tone nonchalant as she idly traced circles in the air with her finger.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Ren pressed, a hint of frustration creeping into his voice.

"It was Pamela who led you here. It had nothing to do with me. I didn't ask to be freed by you in the first place, so I owe you nothing," Whispera explained with a shrug, her gaze flickering to Pamela, who shifted uncomfortably under the weight of everyone's stares.

Pamela stuttered, her voice barely above a whisper as she pleaded, "B-benevolent goddess, master, please consider this plea from them. Do it for me, please."

Whispera sighed, her gaze softening momentarily as she regarded Pamela before turning her attention back to the group. "Fine, but only this once, and it's solely because of you, Pamela. After this, you have to pay," she declared, her tone firm and without compromised.

"Right. Right." the others said in unison.

This Goddess had no sense of shame or gratitude, despite her supposed status as a major deity.

It was a display of audacity that left Ren and the others feeling incredulous.

Whispera shut her eyes, and a tense silence enveloped the group as they waited for her to speak.

Finally, they thought, they would receive the information needed to find and rescue Lorelai.

However, as minutes passed, Whispera remained motionless, her eyes closed in deep slumber.

"What's going on?" Desira's voice cut through the quiet, her frustration evident.

"Is she okay?" Vivi's concern added to the growing unease.

Ren leaned in for a closer look and couldn't help but sigh in the heavens. "She's asleep."

Surprise rippled through the group, and upon closer inspection, they realized that Whispera was indeed snoozing, oblivious to the urgency of the situation.

"What the hell?" Desira's outburst mirrored the astonishment of the others.

"She's like Lethargia!" Azazel burst into laughter, finding humor in the absurdity of the situation.

"What's wrong with her?" Vivi's worry deepened. "Is she alright?"

"Seems like she has something wrong with her head if she can sleep in this situation," Elena remarked dryly.

Iraelyn stepped forward, flexing her muscles in preparation. "I'll wake her up."

But before she could act, Pamela rushed forward, embracing Whispera tightly. "W-wait! Don't hurt her. I'll wake her up."

Pamela shook Whispera gently, and the goddess snorted, her eyes fluttering open in confusion.

"W-what? What happened?" Whispera asked, disoriented from her unexpected nap.

Ren took a deep breath, containing his annoyance and irritation. "Where's Lorelai?"

"Oh, right," Whispera said with a casual wave of her hand, her voice laced with the fatigue of ages. "Sorry, I've been asleep for so many years that my body just wants to sleep again."

"Shouldn't it be the opposite?" Desira couldn't help but interject dryly.

Ren cleared his throat, redirecting the conversation back to the matter at hand before it could veer off course again. "Okay, back to the more important topic."

"Ah, right," Whispera yawned once more, her demeanor betraying a nonchalant attitude. "This Lorelai you seek is in the hands of . . . oh . . ."

Suddenly, Whispera's eyes widened, a jolt of realization coursing through her. "Oh . . . so it's him," she muttered, her ears twitching as if catching wind of something strange.

"What?" Ren pressed, his voice tinged with urgency.

"Who?" Desira demanded, her impatience palpable.

"WHO is it?" Azazel chimed in, echoing the sentiments of the group.

The tension in the air was almost suffocating as everyone awaited Whispera's revelation, their anticipation bordering on desperation.

Whispera's expression shifted, her playful demeanor giving way to a solemn seriousness as she addressed Ren and the others.

"The one you're looking for, Lorelai, is in the hands of Nyxos, the Veiled One," she announced, her voice carrying the weight of certainty and revelation.

"Nyxos?" The others exchanged puzzled glances.

Pamela's legs trembled uncontrollably, threatening to buckle beneath her as fear coursed through her veins. "N-Nyxos is a major god, but not much information is known about him. His abilities are mysterious, and many gods dare not cross him."

"Nyxos, huh?" Azazel's eyes lit up with a hint of excitement. "Where can we find this guy?"

"Are you nuts?" Pamela suddenly screamed, her voice tinged with panic. "Haven't you heard what I said? Nyxos is the one god that you don't cross! You'll die if you go into his domain!"

"Who's going to die?" Desira frowned.

Iraelyn added with a fists bump. "The only one who's going to die is none other than this guy if he doesn't hand Lorelai over to us."

Pamela's face drained of color, her thoughts swirling with confusion. She couldn't understand why she felt so concerned about these mortals.

After all, she should be relieved to finally be free from their grasp.

Yet, an unexplainable worry nagged at her, tugging at her heartstrings.

"Goddess, master, please speak some sense into them," Pamela implored, her pleading eyes turning towards Whispera.

However, her plea fell upon deaf ears as she realized that Whispera was fast asleep, snoring softly.

"Not again! Goddess, wake up!" Pamela shouted, desperation creeping into her voice.

With a jolt, Whispera was roused from her slumber, her mind still clouded by drowsiness. "That's right, Pamela is right. Nyxos is the one god that you don't want to cross with," she said animatedly, couldn't careless as long as she went back to her slumber.

"Too late for that when he snatched Lorelai," Azazel declared, his fists bumped into each other. "Whoever it might be, I will get her back."

"Ohh . . . it must be love, right?" Elena teased, a playful grin dancing on her lips.

"What do you mean, LOVE?!" Desira bristled, her tone defensive. "The only one whom Lord Azazel loves is me, right here. Isn't that right, Lord Azazel?"

"Alright! Where do we find this guy?" Azazel said, his determination shining through.

"L-Lord Azazel," Desira stammered, her face paling as Malifira snickered at her side.

"It looks like Lord Azazel has found someone he wants no matter what," Malifira remarked, her words dripping with amusement.

Desira shot her a glare, her frustration evident. "Nonsense! The only thing he wants is me!"
